Neighbour update. They are over the moon. So they should be, it was a good deed (and we get along really well too).
Missus is happy too. So all in all, a job well done, no injuries either which is always a bonus!

 

Bought a new Black & Decker workmate . Staggered at the cost - around £95 plus delivery - I bought a repacked one (returned unused) from Amazon. Price only £71.42 with free delievery if I watch their streamed TV. I accepted knowing it might also get me out of assembling it.

Box arrived, torn. Opened it to find the vice/ jaw handle broken.

Called Amazon who suggested I returned it or they could give me a further discount of £12. I told them the price of a handle is -on Amazon - £7.99 plus shipping. I suggested a better deal should be offerred. They agreed and gave me a further 30% discount from purchase price.

I ordered "aftermarket" handle for £1.99.

Started to watch the Night Manager.

Got up early to see my mate from NZ off..
I'd not seen him in 17 years . He was touring Europe for 3 weeks on a bike, unfortunately his trip started the day min finished but he came to see me over here for 4 days and it was a hoot...
