1260 1260pp Set Up

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Fraser, Jul 3, 2019.

  1. Just in case anyone's interested , these are the set up settings that one of the best Ohlins men around Darren at MCT did this morning on my 1260PP. Nice and wafty now:) Set up for mostly fast solo road use and I'm around 90kg.....not that Darren was that specific.

  2. Any chance you could upload a larger version of this image?

Ignore me, I've downloaded a copy & you can zoom in without loss of details.

  3. 90kg with your gear on ??

  4. give or take. don't think the odd kg is going to make a whole heap of difference on the road and Darren @ MCT wasn't at all bothered about weight; but suppose i'm pretty middle of the road and neither huge or tiny :)

  5. That's really useful thanks, I'm going to give those settings a try at the weekend.

Without sounding ignorant, does anyone have an image showing which adjuster does what?!

  6. What does wafty mean ?

  7. compliant I think

  8. sure; compliant, easy, smooth etc...

  9. Hope you dont mind me asking a question on this.

On the rear preload he has put 4 turns in.
The rest of the measurements all sound right, but 4 turns in gives next to no preload at all and would be soft and wallow. I just wondered if you would confirm against your bike that it wasnt 4 turns out?
All the Ducati handbook setting suggest 5mm or 8mm etc, thats alot of turns.
    thanks

  10. Preload doesn't affect how hard or soft the spring is.

  11. Well yes, I know that, however the principle of shortening the springs movement with preload is probably the most important setting when dialling in the setup. And with no preload can feel like a softer ride.
But it’s not what I was asking anyway. :upyeah:
The manual is hugely different to the settings stated. It looked to me like the 4 turns may be from fully in not out. The whole adjustment is only 8mm. At 4 turns in from out the adjuster is almost not functioning. :bucktooth:

  12. Out of curiosity as anyone dropped their forks in the yokes at all ?
I've put some better rubber on , which appears to have made the bike turn in slightly quicker , however I still have to apply more force than I expected to lean the bike over.
I definitely need to get the bike set up for me first , however I'm not sure if I'm doing my own head in with it.
Front end feel is a bit vague and for some reason its very easy to go wide coming out of a bend , my other Stradas never did that ? , they just fell into the corners with zero effort.
Will be trying to nip over to Barnsley to get it set up ASAP , just wondered if others had a similar issue that they resolved.

  13. I think it would be interesting, and a great exercise to share our settings, rider weight (clothed), riding style and a comment as to how the bike handles.

Ohlins units are relatively premium, and according to their manufacturing standards should operate almost identically.

  14. Example :-
Bike Pikes Peak 1260 Sept 2019
    Weight 96kgs
    Style, fast road
    Front Preload 6mm
    Rebound 8 clicks
    Compression 12 clicks
    Rear Preload 6mm
    Rebound 10 clicks
    Compression 12 clicks

Bike feels well planted, doesn't dive too heavily when hard breaking but has to be muscled into tight fast corners.

  15. Have you dialled in these settings ?

  16. Yes. That’s my current setup.

  17. You may want to share those in the Suspension section as well, for others. There may be those that don't have a multi at present but may buy one in the future :D (me)

  18. Ok thanks , how would you change it to reduce the wrestling then ?:bucktooth:

  19. Hi just setting up my PP and for the front preload, how many full turns did you put in from fully out to get to 6mm? Mine came with 4 full turns on the front preload and I’m 80kg in kit.
    Thanks in advance
