How long are you up for ?
I’m in Inverurie and up for a ride out on Sunday if you fancy it ?
Can post a few route ideas later if not

 

Hi Sprocker - (is that a cross between a springer and a cocker? Anyway..).
Routes: Watch out for ‘loose chippings’ as the annual summer scattering that masquerades as Road works are on the go in Aberdeenshire currently.
Assuming you can google maps this or have sat nav here are a few options.
From south side of Aberdeen - Head West from Leggart Terrace on THE SOUTH DEESIDE ROAD (B9077). You have a couple of options. Keep going and head to Banchory or after approx five miles turn left onto The NETHERLEY ROAD (B979) to STONEHAVEN. From Stonehaven you can take the SLUG Road (A957) to BANCHORY (although there is a diversion on this road due to a bridge being out). From Banchory keep heading west either on SOUTH Deeside or NORTH DEESIDE (A93) Roads (The Dee is the river running from the Cairngorm Hills to Aberdeen so you can imagine both these roads are good biking roads following a winding route through small villages). You’ll end up in BALLATER - good coffee shops and Ice Cream from SHORTY’s (or frozen yoghurt if you are counting calories). Then head up west again to BRAEMAR (Hungry highlander or The Bothy are good cafes. The Fife Arms Hotel is worth a visit as it’s been recently refurbished. Flying Stag pub attached do mega pub lunches!). Then keep on A93 to glenshee ski centre. Amazing biking road. There do a U turn and head back . Between Braemar and Ballater on the way back look for signs on your left to Strathdon or Tomintoul (A939). Basically you’ll take an old military road over the hills onto DONside (the Don is the river that terminates at the north of Aberdeen). Once on DONside turn right (A944) to MOSSAT and follow signs for HUNTLY (A97). You’ll go through Lumsden, Rhynie. Once at roundabout just before Huntly, turn right, (third exit), to head south briefly on A96 for about a mile and follow signs for ABERCHIRDER (A97 again, it's a left turn just after a BP petrol station on your right). A few miles down that road there is a turn to the right - signposted FORGUE or ROTHIENORMAN (B9001). Take that road and keep going through winding tree covered route onto fast flowing roads towards INVERURIE. before there you will have an option at a staggered cross road (petrol station and country garage on left) to turn left and head for OLDMELDRUM. (A920). Fast road but watch out for speed traps. At Oldmeldrum - first roundabout turn left. It’s a 40mph by-pass. Next roundabout second exit towards METHLiCK.(B9170) Windy road past Oldmeldrum Golf Club. After a mile as you exit trees on a left hand bend the small road to right Signed CRAIGDAM. Follow this to TARVES - Stop there at THE Murly Tuck Cafe on left at far end of village. (See them on Facebook). Owned by Biker couple and great cakes and home made soups etc. Then follow the road (B999) back to Aberdeen (north side), through Pitmedden and Potterton . Once back at the north of Aberdeen follow the road in and the a left after the Don bridge onto the Beach prom and park up at the shops on the front . Sand Dollar or Other cafes there for a final brew and chew!

You are pretty much spoiled for choice up here!!
Oh or head to Alford (A944) - Grampian Motor Transport Museum - mega place!

What he said - you could also keep going to Methlick and turn off for Fyvie and then turn off for Gight and I could make you a cup of tea
There are also good roads heading north up towards Banff then Portknockie for fish and chips

i guess you could head out towards avimore and such. i like thos roads.

 

Yeah, over the Lecht and onto Coylumbridge is also a good route

 

60 miles for Fish n' Chips. They must be good.

 

They are definitely good, but they don't open till 4:30 and a queue forms immediately so 60 miles will waste enough time on the quiet twisties to get there for opening

I'm in Ballatar this week for the running routes, it's that bloody gorgeous up here literally any method of transport you choose Bike, trainers, car the views are spot on.

Here training for 'work' mate. If I was to ever be anywhere near Balmoral it'd more than likely be in uniform .
