Very Off Topic Anti-religious Point & The Reason, I Have A Half Day Today!

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Symon Moore, Jul 18, 2019.

  1. I do not wish to post an issue here about racist issues & personally will not respond to anyone who engages in what I consider racist rhetoric, but I thought the following was interesting & although I see this as an absurd situation, I guess it remains the lady’s right to follow her religion.

So despite living & working in & around Birmingham including much work in the inner city over recent years, I’ve actually never had this happen to me until this morning. Which is the reason, I’m currently sitting in Cafe Nerro instead of doing my job:

Booked to produce a building survey on a residential property. Arrived to find the door not being answered despite clearly someone being in. After a minute or so, the neigbour came out to me & told me that the tenant would not come to the door or allow me in the property because I am a man.
Apparently her strict Muslim husband does not allow any men other than himself into the property, ever. Unless he is present & his wife is not.

Amazing that a person’s religion can dictate this minutiae of their life. I feel sorry for them.

  2. You have to respect the beliefs of males from other cultures. It's only right.

  3. It is also why when some migrate to what is largely defined as "the west", within certain cultures the male is more likely to learn English whilst many of the women are discouraged and told to remain in their home nations tongue, this largely means the female stays under the "guidance and protection" of close males from either family or husband.

    funny old world

  4. The first generation & quite possibley the second generation of females from certain social groups. Do not know english because they are effectively banned from knowing white people. I lived in birmingham for over 10years, in Edgbaston. You see the females following their husbands some meters back. They are dealt with as slaves & baby producers who usually end up marrying each others cousin. Because they horde cash inside their family circles.

  5. Birmingham and tower Hamlets are the two worst places for it I have ever seen. We have customers in both areas and it's another world to me.

  6. Did you have proper appointment Symon?

  7. Probably, but they assumed he was a she called Symone and just mistyped

  8. Without a proper appointment, how is the guy going to arrange to have his wife taken off in the car to his cousin's place, for example?

    One must respect cultural sensitivities.

  11. Oh yes, I was booked for the job. Symon with a Y has caused much confusion over the years but as I never got to speak to the tenant I have no idea what happened other than the fact that she spotted me through the window and saw that I wasn’t female. The whole thing makes little sense to me
