great review by Anti Hero , the guy that has been riding the Pani - as others would a Multi or GS - through America for the last year and clocked 20K miles on it. must be the most Pani experienced rider out there Panigale R International Launch - Page 7 - Ducati 1199 Forum
MCN's review is interesting, not worth the upgrade from an S too little to differentiate... But if we had the money we would
Gradually the reviewers are starting to mention the lack of stability and weave that I wrote about 18 months ago when I got mine. It is unnerving. Mine has had loads of work done on it now and as soon as it is warm enough to try it out I am keen to give it a blast and see if it is improved. I sincerely hope so, or it's going. Engineering marvel, handling nightmare last year. Fast Bikes make the same point, as do Motorcycle USA in their review. Even though these guys depend on the bike cos and always give good reviews, even they are speaking up. I wonder what they did that is different to Checa's bike though that he can stick it on pole...
Hi cham. I d be extremely intersted to know the work you did on the bike.. In our bunch are some that test the end of the speed scale. And none of them have this. Interesting to sort it out ! Tx
kope999r, Drop me a PM if you like, am happy to share. I stopped posting on my earlier thread as I don't want to upset other people who are quite happy with theirs and have spent a large amount of money on something. But for me, I am hoping that the work done will have improved the issues. I want to like the bike, but last year couldn't get it to work. Thankfully I have other bikes. I will try it again on road and track after the work has been done to see if it responds differently.
Is this weave most evident on road or track, or both? Thinking as track is rarely at flat out speeds, maybe its not as noticable or restrictive in racing guisez, whereas cross continental (or very fast Sunday ride) may see higher average speed and more affect
Bradders, It is certainly noticeable at road speeds, motorways are horrid on maintenance throttle. It is least bad when on full gas or hard on the brakes, but is noticeable at all points on part throttle, to varying degrees. It is 3rd gear upwards, so not that quick. I only turned a few laps on track on a demo bike so can't really compare as it wasn't mine so I wasn't pushing and didn't know the track either - but neither my 848 nor desmo do this on either road or track and I ride those both on both. You can feel it all the time really on the Panigale. Just a matter or degree.
Did not notice is on any occasion when at aragon , known for its decent speed. Did n t i read that it could do with tires ? Grtz
Guess the answer is to only ride twisty roads then. Lol. Wonder if it could be the way it switches direction so quickly, so any minor input into the bars causes movement? Need to try one now and find out...good a reason as any ;-)
this business about the panigale being more flickable than previous Ducatis.............. heres some stats Ducati are the chassis numbers dimensions and weights that much different...........??
take the rear tyres, on the panigale 200, on the 1198 190.........so according to common forum myth, the 1198 should be more flickable as a result of the narrower tyre....
