My daughters car went to one of the tyre companies for a Regas. They tested system - it failed. so no regas and no cost. (Kwik Fit) ATS and Kwik Fit do this service for around £40 to £50 - but as AC says - they connect 2 hoses and test - if machine says Fail - they do not gas. They then send you on the way - as they have no idea what to do.. We then had a local speacialist diagnose and repair - was close on £350 due to needing the rigid tube changed.. This same guy had regassed my Vitara a year earlier - he was there an hour - did a full evacuate - Leak Test - Refill - Regas with correct weight of refrierant for £70... So even the specialists - can do it for reasonable money - and they then have the skills. My Vitara has been fine for the last year no issues.. So I would start with ATS / KW - because if the machine says you have a leak - they wont charge you... then you can decide do you want to spend the 200 - 400 to have the leak investigated / found / repaired and regas. If there is no leak... you get a regas for £40 to £50.
I’ve been awake since 3.30am as it’s far too warm.............I’ll need a kip later as we’ve got friends coming to stay today.
Well ours is probably on 20 days a year in living room on cooling and probably the same on heating - until we turn on main heating system... The one in the bedroom is on much more - just cooling - as we both like it cold... and so do the dogs... I certainly do not regret installing them...
If you join Groupon they have aircon regas deals for about £30-40 I was dubious but it all worked out fine for my Alpina. Steve
It has to be displayed near the two ports, typically it's under the bonnet on the cross member or the bulkhead. On some vehicles it's in the door jam (check both sides) or under the drivers seat on a VAN. I've never seen it on the compressor, which is normally an arse to get to anyway.
Yep, you’re right AC, I used the word ‘compressor’ coz it’s better than ‘thingy’ and I wanted to appear intelligent . Apart from which, in my old knackered van it’s on the thingy around the thingy on the roof
Strange day of literally ups and downs...... 1. First actual ride of the year. Met one of my mates (Tuono 1100) me on the zed. 2. Into south wales, stopped at the Steel Horse Cafe (very nice, never been there before) mate - told me another one of my mates died last week. Diagnosed with cancer, a month later he was gone. Sad, as id always vowed we'd catch up and have an evening together. 3. Second stop. Cafe up by the "sugar loaf" (the locals were hanging round my bike observing my "cheeky as fuck " number plate) and i think wondering how ive not been nicked (Welsh plod apparently have nothing better to do apparently). 4. On the way back my mate pulled up on a T junction to go left...me looking right, not seeing him stop and ran into him at about 15mph, realized at the last second. My crash bung took the brunt of it glancing on his rear tyre, my left hand side handlebar then got directed down the rear of his bike resulting in my fist punching a hole in his rear light and me bouncing off him and into the main road....luckily nothing coming. End result, smashed off lever guard (Cheap chinese on but it did its job saving the lever) and i had a spare at home so no biggie. Crash bung bent. 5. On the plus side some of the best road ive ridden for a very long time. Is anyone else like this: Whenever im riding out of Wales i feel like im running for the boarder like the Dukes of Hazzard or something like that.. Mixed bag today...sat in, cup of tea...watching stranger things season 3. Replacement crash bung ordered..along with a kickstand foot...the things you find when youre trawling shopping sites..!
