?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. everything is negotible, the priorities and members are changing. theres gonna be a new member soon, with an awfull lot of what the EU needs, lets see how it all pans out.

  6. Everything OK, Harry? Elise being nice?

Now I have a particular song in my head.

  8. The problem with BoJo suggesting any kind of subsidy (as he did yesterday to Welsh farmers) is that it's against WTO regulations!

For example, if we reverted to WTO rules in the event of a "No Deal" Brexit, then Lamb exports would be subject to a tariff. This would obviously mean that Welsh Lamb is more expensive in other countries. "About 35 per cent of Welsh lamb is exported overseas, and 92.5 per cent of those exports go to the EU, according to Meat Promotion Wales." *

"... analysis from the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board suggests that WTO tariffs could add anything from 38 per cent to 91 per cent to the price of British sheep meat for EU buyers, based on 2017 prices and depending on the exact product." *

So it's that (roughly) 33% of all Welsh lamb exports that could disappear as the EU switches to another source of lamb. A reduction of 1/3 of trade is no good news for anyone.

So why don't we just sell it somewhere else? The problem is that people are willing to pay a premium for quality meat, such as Welsh lamb, which is fresh on arrival. This is what happens in the EU right now. Free trade allows the Lambs to be slaughtered and dressed, and the carcass (or cuts) arrive fresh in a refrigerated lorry in the EU. If they have to ship further, then it means that meat has to be frozen, and that means no more premium "fresh" Welsh lamb, so an already expensive product is now really struggling to be competitive.

So what about BoJo offering a subsidy to offset this? Legally he can't because it's against WTO regulations to do that, as it means that you're effectively bypassing the tariff.

Secondly: he will be setting a precedence that is offering to bail out any industry which is affected by Brexit/No Deal/WTO Tariffs (delete as applicable) and that is going to cost a lot of money! As Theresa said, "there is no magic money tree", so where will all this money come from?

Thirdly: you've got 90 days to do it all in...

  11. Seems fair

    An Ang

    Or an Angie

  12. along with single market, (we need people) thats the biggy up here on the west. much of our ecconomy rely on fresh, often live shell fish making a premium. its deffo bad news for us.

  13. Do you think he will ask for an extension or do you think he will get a deal?

I think he will struggle for 70 days and then call a GE to crash out on a No Deal.
What happens next is anyone's guess... most likely an alliance of some form.

    @749er was right all along...

  17. I believe that a "last minute deal" to "secure the UK's future" and which will "provide the necessary buffer to avoid the UK crashing out of the EU with no deal" will be reached.

The deal, which will allow for an extension of the status quo but which will meet a theoretical test of having left the EU, will allow for further negotiations to take place for a permanent agreement, which will become permanently bogged-down at some point and eventually result in the UK forgetting that it ever voted to leave the EU. Ultimately, the stark choice of "starve or rejoin" will lead to the UK becoming once again subject to the EU's social science project.

If you ever watched a film called "The Onion Field", you will have a feel for what I am describing here.

Of course, @749er may well be correct ...which will provide me with much pain and much pleasure, all at the same time.

  18. So a long time ago I told all you Angies that a hard border would likely result in a return to violence for Ireland

    https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thejournal.ie/boris-johnson-northern-ireland-2-4747071-Jul2019/?amp=1

Here is what Mary Lou MacDonald (Sinn Feinn) has to say

“We spelt out the realities to Boris Johnson. Bluster & bravado can't mask the utterly destructive Brexit route he is taking. He is on course to upend our peace & prosperity with his eyes wide open. Time for all of us to stand together, to face this Tory belligerence down”

Michelle O’Neill of Sinn Feinn said

She stated that a no-deal Brexit could have devastating effects on the economy in both Northern Ireland and the Republic, as well as putting the peace process in the North in jeopardy.

O’Neill said Britain crashing out of the EU would amount to “putting the Good Friday Agreement into the bin”, adding: “We cannot go there.”

    So that was today.

So there you have Sinn Feinn openly talking about the end of the peace process and the GFA. What happens next?

Two days ago the Angies leader got short shrift from the FM “as she put him in his place”

  19. Funnily enough I feel the same @Loz

I hope BoJob does get a compromise from the EU, I really do. The only difference between us is you are a lot more confident than I am. If you are right I will feel the same Anguish as you mentioned and if I am rate I will have a lot of sympathy for your pain.
