So i get the no one can enter Silverstone before 0700....So people waited outside in the car park. Once 0700 came in we all went in a big long group of vehicles all at once.....as far as the idiotic stop at the entrance to the paddock....I just dont get it? Yes im on the list and im in garage 7a-8..thanks and worth the queueing for 35 minutes... I totally get telling me what garage i am to be in in fact i already knew because the dealer had told me. Why not email me the garage number rather than the irrelevant drivel about tyre pressures. All it did was create a mass decent on the paddock rather than a steady trickle of people arriving. As i understand it the practice was halted after around 45mins. Would you believe it, people found the dealers they were booked with.
Then, almost like a bit of mind games making you first wait at the gate, briefing for the fast and inter groups was brought forward to 0800.....and in the same room those late arriving were still booking in......so the briefing didn't happen at 0800.
@duke63 I did mate but @Ash34 wasn't using them and I was In the middle of the 996 project and he offered them back to me so I had um.
fair enough. I was very tempted when you offered them to me a few years ago. Very nice and very rare wheels.
@bradders it was hard work mate to be honest, felt very slippy and sliddy on they current tyres, no slipper clutch, no quick shifter , and the worst thing was the pilot worrying about it. 1198 is a far better bike.
@duke63 Yeah they are rare mate, I'm so glad I got them back. If only sell to get a set of 10 spoke marchrsinis there my all time favourite wheel.
@cookster LOL as thats the pinnacle of its time, that bike! And you've probably made to better. Yet out the box standard (ish) 1198 has it beat!
I met @Dibble @Sonic and @NRG_Mutley today at silverstone. Spent most of the day asking @NRG_Mutley questions - man has the patience of a saint lol. Thanks mate. Had the best day - was easily one of the slowest on track but I managed not to crash and had an amazing time. So glad I went. No one cut me up... everyone was friendly and up for a chat. Ride home was weird. I struggled to keep it at legal speeds and was very very comfy, relaxed and confident on the bike. Did I mention I didn’t crash this time? I’m buzzing - can’t imagine I’ll ever be fast or brave as the guys in the ‘fast’ group but im sure I can improve a lot from where’s I am now.
Yep.. that was my first track day and it was bloody great! Should have done one a long time ago. Nice to meet a few of you also. Still I'm home safe and sound and the bike lives to tell another tale. Feel for the chap who stacked it... was it a Desmo?
