What fork oil grade?

  1. I'm just in the process of re-sealing the forks on my '93 750ss. It has Showa forks fitted. Can somebody tell me the correct oil weight for it please. The manual suggests something but I have plenty of putoline HPX10 in the garage and wondered if they are the same weight.

  2. I use 10 weight fork oil in my Showa forks and it works well,

  3. The Owner's Handbook says: Showa S8 (so I guess that means 8) or ATF SAE10W20.

    The workshop manual says SS8.

They also say the 600 & 750 has 7.5 (which is what I use) so I guess 8 is correct.

  4. Thanks very much for your help. Seems strange how different manufacturers label their oils differently but at least I now know what should work.

  5. No use for road use.

Because the showa forks in class b DD have to be non adjustable i used a mixture of grades to get the rebound slow enough to get the
SS to hold a good line.
I also used 9.5 linear fork springs.

Couldn't afford k tech or maxton cartridges.
