Seems like only yesterday: At first, only a few dipped their toes in the water; then others, hesitantly, followed their lead, all the time looking at each other for reassurance. As austerity-ravaged Greece was placed under what Yanis Varoufakis terms a “postmodern occupation”, its sovereignty overturned and compelled to implement more of the policies that have achieved nothing but economic ruin, Britain’s left is turning against the European Union, and fast. “Everything good about the EU is in retreat; everything bad is on the rampage,” writes George Monbiot, explaining his about-turn. “All my life I’ve been pro-Europe,” says Caitlin Moran, “but seeing how Germany is treating Greece, I am finding it increasingly distasteful.” Nick Cohen believes the EU is being portrayed “with some truth, as a cruel, fanatical and stupid institution”. “How can the left support what is being done?” asks Suzanne Moore. “The European ‘Union’. Not in my name.” There are senior Labour figures in Westminster and Holyrood privately moving to an “out” position The list goes on, and it is growing. The more leftwing opponents of the EU come out, the more momentum will gather pace and gain critical mass. For those of us on the left who have always been critical of the EU, it has felt like a lonely crusade. But left support for withdrawal – “Lexit”, if you like – is not new. If anything, this new wave of left Euroscepticism represents a reawakening. Much of the left campaigned against entering the European Economic Community when Margaret Thatcher and the like campaigned for membership. https://www.theguardian.com/comment...QWpYZhWZfT6L0LukPR7G4H512se-YYCZvdT_KaoW0EtIo
That shouldn't be any surprise I hope given Boris is doing what May should have been doing from day one, i.e. flex your advantage. It's not as though we have ever said we will not trade with them either through a deal or theough wto
Be honest, May was doing what ever the eu told her to do, even if you dislike Boris, his approach is what we should have had from the beginning
The article seems to not be an article at all but just one sentence from a sky interview. I suspect had the full interview been attached, the context would have given a more accurate and different story
Europe thinks Boris is an absolute w@nker of the highest order. That is from Dutch, Belgian, French, Spanish and all Brits I have talked to since he was “un democratically” imposed on us. I doubt EU leaders have such high regard. Certainly though, we are now playing the Joker.
What, like the context of remarks from EU leaders? I,m joking, but seriously, when?? did the press quote anything in full? To get context?
So, you've been "talking to people". Are any of those people dookie? Maybe all of them were dookie? May was May v1.0. Hunt was May v1.1 Boris is merely May v2.0. A lot of new features ... but basically the same app. You'll see.
Prefecture in Tulle, Mairie in village, people in cafes, basically everybody I have been in contact with here, which is a lot of folks. Maybe Dookie has lots of disguises, has he been here?
Aren't there 17.4 million Brits who probably think Barnier,Druncker etc are absolute wankers? I don't know ANYONE who thinks otherwise.
