hey guys. I'm starting to fix the bike up. got in contact with a company that can disable the immobiliser from the ecu, so that's going in 2 weeks. what other common faults are there to this bike as it's all stripped down. reading something about earthing issues??
Sunny the primary earthing and power cable set up is marginal, best thing to do is get a set of high capacity bespoke leads for the battery and starter from @Exige on here they are good quality and fix the slow starting issues as well as helping to reduce issues with the starter clutch. Replace the relay by the battery box and relocate or protect it with a rubber glove finger or similar. thanks for the info. I'll contact him shortly. yeah the starting of the bike is slow so we bypassed the smart start and went straight to the solenoid. so it starts like a normal bike now
Sunny, the problem is in the primary power cables and earths and not the smart start function, you will need to replace the cables (as everyone else has) as they are not adequate for the loads the starter needs to work properly. If you subscribe you will get the cables at a discount and get a Halfords trade card, both of which will pay for the subscription in immediate savings. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threa...-belt-2v-coil-kit-link-forum-discounts.36761/
Another common fix is to replace the twistgrip tube with one from a Yamaha R1 It speeds up the action slightly but more importantly, it eliminates free play, enabling you to ride much more smoothly at low speed.
thanks for the info and help. ive got the ball rolling now so im in contact with chris for the ecu repairs and exige for the replacment cables and a full service kit
