British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. I hear you but I don't see many lining up to support Corbyn, even now in the idea of a part time leader just to try and stop brexit, he's just not a popular bloke.

Maybe it'd be a lib dem and green coalition as both of them would take from labour, brexit part would take from labour and tories.

Lib greens could be in with a shot

  2. Well you could be right. Though for the Greens and Libs to go from 13 seats to winning an election is not a bet I'd make.

Personally I think the Tories & Labour will be the top two parties by some margin. It will be very hard for the LIbs to support Bojo after a hard Brexit and their voters remember well what happened last time the Tories conned them into coalition. The SNP will likely support a Labour coalition for their own ends (and why not?) and they are likely to have more MPs than before. The DUP will be very lucky to have six MPs next time.

Pure speculation of course, but a rocky coalition led by Labour is not a pipe dream, its a plausible scenario based on the numbers.

  3. theres your problem. dont read the coments section. bots, biggots and bams reside there.
in many respects i am quite lucky and spoiled for choice now when it comes to reading matierial and sources of quality ballanced info. the YES mouvment consists of remainers, leavers, SNP, Labour, Tory, liberal votors, scots english, irish welsh, people from all over. i get to see most vuews.
and you and others shouuld be watching this weeks A.Salmond show instead of falling out on here. a proper ballanced and uninterpted anyalasis from one of our most knowledgeable parlimentarions who knows the rule book inside out. and these two

  6. A well written and fact based assessment of the current state of affairs and highlights the ridiculous nature of those mps stifling progress on the issue.

parliament can be summed up in one of two ways:

    A shower of utter shit

    Or

Shit or get off the pot

    Both are quite fitting

  7. The applicants in Scotland have just had their case dismissed :D

as to the graun article, I agree it is a fair outlay of the situation. You have lost just 4 days on this perouging due to conference season . Lib dems 14th sept-17th sept, then Labour 21st sept-25th sept, then Tories 29th sept- 2nd Oct, greens, 4th Oct- 6th Oct

It's even more silly when you come to think the lib dems have just 14 mp's and two of those have had 3 parties in 3 months and the greens have 1 mp, Even I have had more than that at a beer up night.

There was a draft that needed 4 parties to agree before it become an agreement, the very same people trying to stop no deal, are those who voted no to the deal, weird how their minds work?

  9. David Lammy. I nominate David Lammy as the next Labour Party leader.

    Nominate? No, I insist.

  10. The poundland Al Sharpton would be interesting, he could be the new shouty Mcshout face

  11. Lammy popping off at Javid for deleting an old "proroguing Parliament is unacceptable" tweet and then almost immediately deleting his own "I'll join in in civil disobedience" tweet is peak UK Twitter.

Top entertainment, folks. Blink and you miss the good stuff.

  12. Hard to see how the case at the court of session would succeed when BJ has not broken any rules and the default in law for Brexit is we leave on 31/10.

The other interesting thing I have noticed is that very few “journalists” covering the case know the correct terminology wrt the Scottish legal system. Why am I not surprised?

According to some, they were looking for an injunction at the high court

  14. As I read elsewhere, BJ has told the fire brigade to take a holiday while his house is burning down. I expect every opposition party would gladly drop conference in favour of sorting out Brexit

  15. .
Doherty said: "I'm not satisfied that it has been demonstrated that there's a need for an interim suspension or an interim interdict to be granted at this stage.

"A substantive hearing is set to place for Friday September 6, before the first possible date parliament could be prorogued."
