Hi! I’ve installed a 54mm system on my 749 but the bracket for the right lower fairing didn’t came with the exhaust and I can’t put the fairings on. Is the one attached to the rear master cylinder: I’ve been looking for it for some weeks and seems impossible to find. I’ve also gone to some stores to see if there’s any metal plate to adapt, but I haven’t found anything useful. I have seen a place that could do it, but is closed for holiday, although I don’t know how much would it cost, and I can’t wait to use the bike! (Well... actually I’ve done it, but without fairings) Does anybody has one for sale for me? Thank you!
I had the same problem after buying my system (banana pipes) your best bet is trying a local engineer to fabricate one. My local guy made a great job, think it was 3mm plate and charged me about £25. Strangely it didn’t need widened, only 10 mm added to the length. I can only think that’s due to the end of the fairing kicking out slightly.
I have the banana system too with the black swingarm, the picture I post was just for pointing the bracket. This is actually my bike: (The upper bracket is already mounted, but the fairing still touches the exhaust). So, if I just add 10 mm at the end of the original bracket the fairing won’t touch the exhaust? That’s great because then I can use the current one as a model. Anyway, I have the measures for the big bracket and I have found a place they could do it, but it’s still closed for holidays. Thanks for your help!
Yes, my new bracket is identical in shape to the old one, same bends, and depth to get round the first pipe, but 10mm longer, so an engineer can easily transfer the shape onto a bit of card as a template. There was not enough metal at the end of the original bracket to file enough to catch the nut attaching the fairing. Make sure they make the hole on the end of the bracket identical in size, so the spring clip thing sits nicely. You should also have a rubber stopper on a bracket on the banana pipe, which keeps the last bit of the fairing clear of the pipes. HTH Dave
Very helpful @Codfather ! Thank you very much!! I’ve noticed the rubber bracket, but didn’t thought that the rubber was for separate the fairing. This makes things more easier.
