On a 950 : Does anyone know if I change the sprocket is it possible to re-calibrate the speedo through the ECU using any tools?
The speedo is way off on my 950SP. Reads 10% high. Dealer said he has seen up to 20% error. The wheel/tire calibration function from the menu does not work either. Does not work on any 950 I am told. Software bug that Ducati seems in no rush to fix. Try it. It will never complete and always display a FAIL message.
They are usually 10% high by design - so you don't go speeding everywhere - GPS will always read 10% lower in virtually any vehicle
The manual says it can be off 5%. Makes no sense to me. I would like accurate information. My Truck speedo is identical to my GPS reading.
Maybe getting more accurate now that GPS is widespread, used to be as a safety factor to read between 0 and 10 % fast so they all erred on 10% fast. I'd be dubious of a statement like 5% off but looks like you're stuck with it
In my expert opinion, based upon direct experience, whilst it is relatively easy to change the rear sprocket, I strongly advise never attempting to interfere with a fully functioning front sprocket. Especially not one that has been on a bike left in the damp for 6 years .
I did the front sprocket on my 950. Its much better now. Even more af a wheelie monster and top speed is still more than i would ever need. 14t is the way to go
True but as i live in norway ill be lucky to get 5000km done this year so im ok with it. Think ill go 2 up on the rear next aswell.
