Please explain the SNP policy toward English students attending Scottish Universities? And have a look at some of the sentiments expressed by admitted SNP supporters on this and other threads.
As I understand the policy of non-Scottish students attending Scottish universities is a UK policy - same as Scottish students attending English, Welsh or NI universities. it's what the devolved power allows. May seem unfair but the Scottish and Westminster governments disagree on the policy of university fees so there is disparity. Unfortunately personal opinions are just that - and can easily be described as racist, xenophobic, fascist, etc. that is unfortunate and likely to be caused by the persons misunderstanding of policies and life in general. Happens on every side of opinion and not just SNP proponents.
No, if I took you to my local you would find it full of English people. If I picked you up and drove you to the railway tavern in Glasgow I would make sure no one laid a hand on you, because someone being offensive isn’t a reason to be assaulted. But I do think you should answer the question with a simple yes or no. I also find your transference of blame interesting from a psychological point of view. The word Scottish when applied to Scots is used to demean and belittle as per all racial slurs. It’s the action of people who attempt to bully, as is the transferring of blame to the “victim”. A few of my friends have used the word towards me in banter, and I take it in the way it is meant and have a laugh too. This forum is different because 1) it’s public, not private 2) the people who use the word Scottish to describe people are the same people who ridicule the country of Scotland on a weekly if not daily basis. I have no reason to believe it’s meant in good humour, none.
Please provide examples of this? Why did 11 out of my 12 English friends in Scotland vote for independence? Why have the SNP been applauded by its political opponents for its brand of civic nationalism ? How many SNP MSPs have not been Scottish?
my god harry, consider yourself honerd. i think your the only disenting voice he hasnt put on ignore. its cool, no need to reply or get sucked into this any further. yer dealing with some real DIOCTI here.
"But it is not just students from Scotland who get free tuition at Scotland's 19 universities - under European law, students from other EU member states share the same entitlement. However, students from other parts of the UK do not and Scottish universities charge them tuition fees....Essentially this is because it is possible to discriminate between students from different parts of an individual member state but not not to discriminate against those from other parts of the EU." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-23279868
aye, what we will do is, fill our uni's with students with considerable easier access to crossing the boarder from a country that wont pay. so, the fact that english students cant access free education is our fault now too. not westminsters. fuck me, yer beyond thick
That's the correct description, so for the Scottish government to allow Scottish students free education they have to allow EU students the same liberty - because of Europe, however, the UK government wants to charge fees for education so the Scottish government has to play along. I also believe NI students and Welsh students get assistance from their devolved governments so it is only the remainder of the UK that is imposing fees for education.
You are wrong - you didn't answer when I researched it and proved you wrong - this is what you do, disappear when proved wrong, then pop up again a few days later when you have recovered from your shame
You are harder than all of them, you do not come across that way - you come across really really soppy but still quite likable in a soppy kind of way
Just as a reference point if I may, you do not have free university education in Scotland, it has to be paid by someone. The U.K. system means that the person seeking uni education in the hope they benefit from it, pays for that higher education themselves The Scottish system means many who will never go to uni but are on a low wage and paying taxes, are paying those uni fee's as well as others that will never go or use university. sorry to interupt. *calling 749er a walloper isn't helping
Under the UK system there are a large number of students who will never pay back their student loans, who pays for that?
