Sad day if true, but hey at least I'll have one of the last ones  899 Panigale, not sure that will happen, just steal all the sales from the 1199
From what volume of 848's out there, this seems like a pretty successful mass production bike for Ducati. Why are thy discontinuing?
The 848 has been Ducati's best selling sportsbike. To discontinue it must surely mean something else is in the pipeline for the near future..?
It's not just the motor though. How's it going to be spec'd? To achieve some of the levels of the 1199 is going to push the price up too much. I'd love it to happen, really would but I can't see it.
Ducati dealer just back from Italy. The 821cc motor in the new Hyper is a gem. Had a test ride on one yesterday.
So ducati would tell a random dealer from the UK before doing a full press launch of a replacement model? I don't think even ducati are that stupid.
I can foresee a sportsbike for the road, maybe a 'Panigale' Light just as the Hyperstrada is to the Multistrada. Bear in mind the new Hyper bikes have DTC, the latest spec ABS and riding modes and the MRP is around £10k.
The new bike is just a rumour, the finish of the 848 isn't. Ducati do keep the dealers informed of what they are doing and when i asked about an 899 Pani, i was told that they have to fill the space in the range with something.
Large corporations design, develop and launch products to a standard format and marketing plan. Giving titbits to dealers is not normally part of a marketing plan IME
