You know what I mean by a hard Brexit. A Brexit under WTO rules. What about @Darkness post about there being a deal. Are you two in agreement?
With what? My selfish side would probably remain in the EU as I have always said, but I am not selfish - we're screwed (we means me and Finm and everyone else brw) but either way I'll be OK
Well you seem to be consistent in saying that there is only one type of Brexit- which is WTO then start re negotiation of trading terms and @Darkness seems to be saying a deal will be reached which is not that. So you seem to be singing from different hymn sheets I think we are in agreement that the May deal isn’t leaving the EU.
I have never said that about WTO rules either? IT just won't be the disaster all the doom mongers think. But yes, May's deal isn't leaving the EU - everyone knows that perhaps...
Reflecting on his trip to negotiate the ballot, Cameron writes in his book: “I went to Edinburgh for my first negotiation meeting with the slipperiest of characters, Alex Salmond, Scotland’s first minister, in February 2012. “I always used to say you had to count your fingers on the way out of a meeting with him.” Cameron had been at Balmoral for an audience with the Queen in the run-up to the referendum when a shock poll put Yes in the lead. Days later, the Queen urged Scots to “think very carefully” about the vote, with Cameron saying he was “delighted” by her comments. . In response, Salmond said the criticism evidenced how “rattled” Cameron was by the Yes movement. The former first minister said Cameron’s “comments about me seem rather mild compared to the venom he has reserved for his erstwhile Tory chums”. He added: “The extract from his book shows how rattled David Cameron was in the final stages of the 2014 campaign, lying awake at night worrying about what the Queen would think of him if there was a Yes vote! “In reality David wasn’t a great negotiator and the Scottish side achieved most of what we wanted from the Edinburgh Agreement of 2012, hence his petulance even now about the negotiations. Cameron’s response was to increasingly let George Osborne do his thinking for him.
Okaydoke So ignoring the car bombs in NI and the guy arrested in Dublin for importing 200 hand guns last month, what would your Brexit look like?
The EC Deal foisted on Theresa May doesn’t accord with “Leave” to my mind. It also wasn’t a Trade Deal. It gave a period of about two years from March ‘19 as a Transition period to negotiate the trade deal before being locked into the Backstop. The EC say they don’t want that to happen, but it hands them all the cards when negotiating that deal. Leaving on WTO terms is OK by me, but I expect a trade deal to be negotiated at some point. It could be before or after we LEAVE. Before would be preferable, but I wouldn’t want them to delay leaving for it if it is to happen afterwards. I don’t think I’m that far from @Exige in this, but you wouldn’t want me singing off any hymn sheet, same or otherwise.
Praise indeed for Salmond, whatever you think of the 'man' the 'politician' is one of the best. No surprise on his comments on Johnson and Gove - pair of first class snakes
What has terrorism got to do with it ??? - ridiculous attitude to blame the EU on terrorism! Oh we have to agree with terrorism now and answer to the threat of it in a roll over kind of way, have you gone soft down in that there London town shameful
It's got nothing to do with with it but his ira thread failed so he's trying to spread it into other threads
I don’t believe I have suggested that terrorism should be agreed with but it’s a fact that there has been an escalation in terrorist activity in response to the prospect of no deal. It would seem you do not accept that? But putting that to one side, what would you expect your ideal and realistically achievable relationship with the EU to look like?
I had a thread highlighting a very even handed BBC4 program which you seem to refuse to watch in case you might learn something and therefore reconsider your view.
Facepalm all you want fin but last week I put up irish times interviews with both varadkar and toveney and when aked if we have a hard border, both said, we don't know yet till we have discussions with the eu. So you have the bizzare situation of republican terrorists, attacking a republican hard border, in the republic and the only people who told them to put it there was the eu. So you crack on with your falsehoods but the U.K. are saying no bueno to a hard border on their side in total respect to the gfa
Nope, no rammee required. I am 100% right and if "no bueno" is seen as agrressive to you, don't ever go to south america or buy a el paso meal
What was your position on the rape clause ? You seem to be unable to comprehend that circumstances beyond a person(s) control and the subsequent effects need to be dealt with in a way which recognises the illegality of the original act. As opposed to just blame the victim, which is your approach here.
