Anyone had their Enduro seat modded? It isn't exactly the most comfortable seat now is it! I know there's the Comfort seat, and I see Corbin do one, any other options? Cheers, Ed
Watching this thread with interest - just done a 2000 mile tour round the UK and the seat really was the one thing that I found to be lacking. I'm considering trying a gel pad, or I might look at getting my seat modified to have a gel pad fitted. I find that numb-bum sets in after only an hour - not good when I like to long days of 8 or more hours!
No, I think it's bloody awful. I tried a "bean bag" seat cushion that's supposed to help spread the weight around and allow you to shuffle about, but that didn't appreciably help me. I may also try padded cycling shorts.
Ha ha, yes I was wondering about padding my pants! Just been having a close look at the seat and can't really see why it's not comfortable, the shape looks good but there you go. Anyway the cover is just stapled on so I think I'll get a sheet of that gel stuff and see if I can shimmy it in there, should be easy enough.
Lycra cycling gel pants/shorts would be my starting point. Cheap and readily available and can have the impact plus or negative quite quickly. Sometimes using recommended seat specialists to cut and refoam/gel inserts, can be cheaper that using the ducati "comfort seat"
I'm considering one of these. https://conquestracingltd.com/product/ducabike-ducati-multistrada-1200-enduro-comfort-seat-cover/ They look good, I have changed my 950 for an Enduro and need to see if my comfort seat fits yet.. Part numbers are different so not that hopeful.
That's just a cover isn't it Tim? Presumably the old cover would have to come off first ... And I'm not clear from the website whether it is to fit the Duc 'comfort seat' or the standard one.
Anyway I've ordered a square 35x35cm of 1cm gel stuff. Might try sticking it down the back of my trousers before I pull the cover off the seat.
My feeling is you may need to go more like 20-30mm to make a difference, but let us know anyway. One thing is for sure - you'd do well to make it worse!
From what I can see and what I understand it is a cover. But on other threads there is a comfort one with extra memory foam or something in when fitted. Yes I believe it is for the standard seats but we will see. As for the cycling shorts they work well my backside can vouch for that having done 3000miles around Europe.
I believe (though you may prove me wrong) the 950 and enduro seats are interchangeable. They have different part numbers because the material on them is different.
Tim, I just did a quick web search, and looking at the pictures again I don't think it will fit, sorry. If you do the same you can see the front part where it joins the tank is longer on the enduro. On the 950 there is a separate pad attached to the tank similar to the other non enduro models. No idea if it will fit if you remove the pad from the tank, but might be worth investigating if it potentially saves you a bunch of money.
If I'm going much over 200 miles, I always use an Airhawk pad. Those things are a bloody revelation as long as you get the right amount of air in them (just enough to get your arse off the seat!)
I was looking at these, keen to try one. The thing that I'm worried about is if I want to start moving around on the bike a bit, when pushing on a bit for example. Does the airhawk slide around on the seat much?
Just got one of these for my KTM: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/96-55cm-...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Very good for the very little it cost.
