When Is An Appointment Not An Appointment?

  1. My car was due it's 1st MOT today. Being the tightwad type, I booked it online last week at a place close to work who came out cheapest.

So 11am today is my appointment and I turn up with 5 mins to spare and my intention is to go to work afterwards.

Me...."Hello, I have an 11am appointment for an MOT"

Girl on reception...."Is your phone number xxxx xxxxxx"

    Me...."Yep"

    G o r...."We'll give you a ring in 2 - 3 hours when it's done"

    Me.... "But I have an 11am appointment"

G o r...."He has one on the ramp at the moment", "He'll be about an hour, then it's lunchtime"

    Me.... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd 1

    Me....:no_mouth:

    G o r....:no_mouth:

Me...."I'll have a walk to Sainsbury's and I'll be back in an hour"

    G o r..."OK"

I get back in 45 mins and it's done.

    Am I being unreasonable?

  3. The normal is - drop off first thing and we'll ring you when we've dreamt up a huge list of shit that's wrong with it, and we just happen to have all that shit in stock do you want us to fix it?

  6. I would say yes but where i work we get people just turning up or turning up a day late that expect us to drop everything to work on their trucks. Now that really is annoying . As say to them .. 'If you turned up at the doctors a day late ,do you think you would be at the front of the line?"

  7. Same situation at a tyre fitters, booked the appointment for two car tyres, "come back in two hours" - "but I've booked a fitting time" - " yes, but it will take two hours!" You're insulting my (minimal) intelligence, so won't be using that company again!

  8. i wouldnt recomend going to a discounted MOT station. they cost a fortune to buy, install and maintain. plus the testers wage. they have got to make a profit somehow.

  9. Most companies do not have staff just sat around waiting for people to turn up . We are constantly busy at our place . The last thing i want to be doing is breaking off half way through changing oils as this is when things get forgotten ,or somebody moves the vehicle with no oil in it.

  10. It works both ways though, I was self employed and could easily lose half a day's wages waiting around, garages should be straight with the customer when booking vehicles in.
Luckily my mot station sticks to the booked time within 15 mins or so.
