  1. I have three Plod relatives.........all from different forces who were being 'shipped' up there in large numbers....

    In their words, "they bl**dy loved it" (not just the overtime pay).

  2. Rust In Peace, Iron Lady.

  3. I love the way some overlook the decline in Britain before Lady Thatcher came into power.

    From my understanding of history; the Labour party had inflicted grave damage to a lot of our manufacturing excellence. Just look at UK aviation in the late 50's and 60's.

    When she came into power, the country was a shambles with the Unions controlling a feeble government. She brought in many necessary, though often unpopular changes. I also don't believe any other leader of that, or this era, would have regained the Falklands.

    Of course she made mistakes but she restored Britain's place in the world and I would like to see that level of sincerity and honesty, in today's politicians.

    RIP

  5. Good to hear!

  6. Yes all the way to the bank on their overtime!! I am fed up with listening to everybody on the BBC waxing lyrical about her. She is responsible for the culture of greed and uncaring in this country that we have to live with now. She caused a decline in standards by ensuring that everything had a monetary price and that all the good service industries we had were sold to the few with money. Thank the lord that we took to the streets over the Poll tax otherwise the wealthy would be paying even less tax than they do now and us ordinary working families would be even worse off.

    RIP fellow human and I pray that your policies never rear their greedy ugly heads again.

  7. And I suppose she ripped us all off with the current banking culture, and I wonder how long them muslim clerics would have had, to preach death and hatred to our armed forces had they been around in her time.

  14. Why do people who disagree with Mrs Thatcher feel the need to be so abusive? I don't agree with the way Tony Blair bankrupted this country but I won't be slagging him off on the day he dies (apart from the fact that I'll probably be dead before he is).

    As someone who remembers the annual power cuts and companies going to the wall well before Mrs T came to power I think a lot of the criticism about her is over stated and ill considered. That said I don’t think she got it all right either but she was a great PM and on balance was a positive influence to this country.

    RIP Mrs T

  17. Ah yes, the wonderful Margaret Thatcher............

    .........who had a riot occur in nearly every year of her terms in office;

    .........who allowed interest rates to climb to 13+%;

    ........who refused to accept that 'society' existed and that prejucide and unemployment weren't the cause of riots;

    ........who encouraged greed and the likes of 'loadsamoney';

    ........who encouraged the increase in sales of red braces and Porsches to people that would probably have been door-to-door brush salesmen;

    .........thus increasing the size of banking and finance industry to what the subsequent governments used as a guide to how well the economy was doing....

    Good riddance............and while you are at it....take some, if not most of the others with you.
