Lithium Battery Over Winter

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by cookster, Sep 27, 2019.

  1. Hi guys , what do you lot do with lithium batterys over the winter months do you keep um on a trickle charger or just leave um?? Cheers

  2. Leave it - maybe charge it Christmas day, or cook the Turkey with it :)

  3. Take it off the bike perhaps

  4. Plug them in and set charge to storage...
If you start the bike every other month, it shouldn’t need to be touched anyway.
I fitted a little led indicator which tells you the state of the battery.

  6. I used to plug mine In to the trickle charger every 2 weeks and let it build back up but I also ride through the winter months.
My mx bikes I always leave for 2 to 3 weeks then blast em then leave unplugged again

  7. Leave mine plugged in all the time. A good LiPo charger with a dedicated maintenance charging cycle will keep your battery tip-top. :) :upyeah:

In fact, I leave all my batteries plugged in.

  13. Bought an Anitgravity LiPo battery for the MV, also a LiPo specific Optimate. Was plugged in constantly when the bike wasn't in use. No problems.

  14. Which is an equally good solution

  15. Oh. Should have also said for those V4 lithium owners the same applies. Dedicated connector under the (riders thus time) seat which takes the same lead as the link. More essential in the V4 given the battery location IMHO

  16. I have a spare new one of those..... :eyes: but only because I wired one direct too - it's easier for access.
