Why has it had replacement belts, new battery, new chain and got age related blemishes, if it is unused ? Or does it mean it’s not been raced ? Andy

Maybe based price on this Bonhams sale? https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23602/lot/240/[/QUOTE] Is it my eyes or do the wheels not match the frame in colour, question is why have they been repainted for such a low mileage motorcycle.

IMO the correct wheels would be the 3 spoke Brembos as per the 97 model in @Kevin Tallant 's post above. This now raises the question that someone is prepared to pay that much for something that is not 100% original. Mind you what's another £500 for the wheels when yo've spent that much

Yes, think correct wheels are 3 spoke with Ducati Racing around rear hub & elephant logos. Those wheels on Bonhams bike are probably manganese alloy jobs & much later.
“The first race winner of a World Superbike Race. Ducati built these 851 Tricolore to go racing for the inaugural season of the World Superbike Championship in 1988. This is not only an extremely rare example (currently the only one available for sale in the world), but a new unused preserved official competition for client race bike. A factory supplied superbike that is possibly the only new remaining example with spares kit on original tires on the planet today. ” It’s both the winner of a world Superbike race and unused ???
