To stop me having to look it up ... do we know whether the Benn Surrender Act compels the UK PM to negotiate for a deal as well as ask for an extension if no deal is reached? Or is the PM only compelled to ask for an extension? I believe the extension is only granted by the EU if it is for the purposes of negotiating a "deal". If BoJob extends, but fails to negotiate, I have seen it suggested that the extension is null and void. Lot of game theory going on at the moment. Interesting times.

Some eminent lawyer or other is saying that the law compels BJ to ask for an extension,but not how long the extension has to be. So he could ask for 24,and he's complied with the law.
