Yet more SC's come out of the woodwork...

  1. Well I suppose it is the start of the bike selling season - sellers seem fixated on a £10k 'dream price' but will accept £8k if pushed.

Latest is a 2007 SC Biposto (just like mine)

    2007 DUCATI SPORT CLASSIC 1000 BIP YELLOW/BLACK | eBay

Seems that a brace of SC 1000S' failing to sell hasn't put anyone off!

Draw up your seats and watch the circus begin!

  2. So if I read the ad correctly he wants top money for a bike hat hasn't been serviced in at least 4 years. Dream on!

  3. Yep!

It amazes me what some sellers think is acceptable when selling their bikes.

    I've seen quite a few that want top dollar prices but then say;

"No MOT currently but should pass with no problem"....

er... then why didn't you put it through am MOT if it was "no problem"???

  4. I need to get my finger out and sell mine before the market gets over supplied! I'm temped to ride it for one more summer, though I've said that for the last couple of years and have ended up keeping it.

  5. No MOT, requires a new tyre, currently has tyres which are 6 years old, it's been mainly sitting in a garage, no servicing done it the past 4 years.... and a price higher than when it was brand new.... what a piss take.

  6. Hi Paul .....go om keep it for one more summer!, then another , them another!

You know the missus will only spend the money you get on kitchen units...and she will spend her time staring at them with a soppy smile on her face - meanwhile you will be left staring out of the window at the beautiful biking weather, hoping to catch a glimpse of a Sports Classic go roaring by (but it never does) muttering to yourself "Why did I sell it? Why did I sell it?"

  7. You may be right, although I've just had a new kitchen fitted! I love the bike but I've got a bit of a dodgy back which puts me off riding it, especially with the state of the roads. The missus doesn't really want me to sell it, I've also got a Honda CB1000R and she wants me to sell that instead.

  8. As Les Dawson used to say "The answers in the question"...

(*sell the Honda Instead! Not only is it not as much fun/beautiful to look at/fun to own, it will depreciate in value whilst you will get more for the SC next year than you can now! *)

You know it makes sense!

  9. AH now we have a red GT1000 come up on Ebay - It's a nice change to see something come up with a few miles under it's belt and a bit 'battle worn' ...38,000 miles I think - and it's an open auction starting at £2500...good stuff!

  10. Toastmuncher says his GT is now for sale. Looks a nice bike, will be interesting to see what he gets for it.

  11. There's another (grey) GT on eBay now. Auction starting low for a good looking bike.
I emailed the guy selling the SC... he seems to think that his bike is 'lower milage and better condition than others' and it's now a collectors item and they go for over £8k. He also said that adhering to service schedule is an overkill when the bike has so little use! He didn't reply when I send him a message saying that it may be fine to put it in a living room but if someone wants to ride it, it would require spending probably about £1000. This thing has belts which are 6 years old FFS!
It's a nice bike but it requires quite a bit of work.

  12. :eek::biggrin:

So the guy thinks his bike should be put on someones mantlepiece now?

Maybe occasionally trailered out to do an appearance on the "Antiques Roadshow"

Fiona Bruce: "Well that's a beautiful looking bike - how did you come by it?"

Good grief - I sincerely hope that chummy is unsuccessful in his attempt to unload it on to some naive mug for a huge pile of cash.

If he was prepared to spend some money on servicing it and getting it roadworthy then fair enough but no - he seems too greedy for that.

  13. Could'nt agree more.As soon as I bought my unused MH900 I had it thoroughly serviced and have had it regularly serviced since even though it doesn't do much mileage.I go with the time intervals that Ducati recommend. When I come to sell it,it will be ready to go with no excuses.I would be very wary of buying a bike where the owner has not bothered to spend the money on looking after it.

  14. My thoughts exactly...
Last couple of Sport Classics (not S) went for £6-7k and those were perfectly road worthy bikes. If he would be willing to drop his price to something bit more sensible I would consider buying it. Still it would be a risk considering that the current owner seems to think that all maintenance a bike needs is just keeping it shiny

  15. I sold my Classic S in Sept 11.Fully serviced with Termis and fully adj front suspension,5000 miles since new in 2009.It sold for £6800.A fair price at the time,I was happy and the buyer was happy.

  16. I would expect this bike to go for £5-5.5k assuming it needs another £1000 spend on it + it has no tax or MOT and there is transport cost to factor in as well. If the owner would sort it all out he could probably find a buyer willing to pay around £8k.

  17. My yellow SC1000 monoposto has just been serviced including belts, has a new rear tyre and has just had a lovely new petrol tank fitted by Moto Rapido (the paint bubbled on the first one), less than 3000 dry miles, immaculate condition... so if someone wants to offer me £8k

  18. Would you consider slightly used kidney? Or other body parts?
Whenever I see SC for sale stupid thoughts start crossing my mind ;)

  19. I've got a full complement of body parts, thanks for the offer though

  20. It was worth to give it a shot ;)
