So have we worked out whether BoJob is Surrender Monkey MayBot v2.0 or not? I couldn't tell from the arcane nature of treaty and law that have been discussed in my absence. Everyone seemed to be talking in code.
Well at first I thought Boris was been suckered in only for the eu to find a last minute hitch, that would make it impossible for him to carry on. Then a eu compliant pm could be install, but I was told the eu never interfere with nation states internal policy. And even if they did we have the impartial speaker of the house to make sure everything thing is done correctly so it must be surrender monkey. Get your Leather shorts ready for 1st November Oh and good morning
I think it's well established that the EU does not interfere with internal policy of nation states. What's poorly understood is what is meant by the words, "interfere" and "not". The EU interpret these words somewhat differently from the commonly-held meanings, so that's where the confusion lies. Happy to help out!
Yep, he's caved. So parliament votes it through........Years more of wrrangling over a trade deal with the UK surrendering fishing waters and signing up to all sorts of unpalatable EU initiatives. Parliamant rejects it.......They still refuse to have a GE, holding the gov't hostage and holding another referendum before the next GE where the question is "Remain" or "Remain". I really don't see this lot voting for a GE before a rigged referendum. They have learnt the lesson of the last vote when they gave the people a genuine option of leaving the EU, they won't be so cavalier again. On the remote chance they do vote for a GE after extending and before a referendum, the Conservative's position on leaving has a lot to do on how that would go. The simple act of just leaving the EU is betrayed either way. It'll be very interesting where support for The Brexit Party goes in the next couple of years.
I hate being right at the best of times but this time - I really hate being right. You get the government you deserve. Always.
I cant see how this applies in the UK. shy of rioting in the streets of london. (frowned upon if its not, your, cause). what can you do. up here, 70% of us would identify with the center left. but govs get elected in this country on 30 odd%. if the majority are the people, and the people say naw, but the minority say tough shit. that's not getting the Gov you deserve.
The thing to remember is, Both Boris AND Varadkar have general elections on hold till this brexit stage is completed so both will have a keen eye on the upcoming elections. If he has bailed and done a brino, the brexit party will have mp's in the house and depending on how many, the future negotiations could be interesting
Will we ever get Brexit? there seems to be an increasing number of MP's that want a confirmatory referendum before a general election, apparently the opposition parties are pushing for a vote in parliament on Oct 19th.
