That will be labour mostly The problem for labour, whether you agree or not, there is a perception that many labour mp's voted against what their constuency asked them to vote for and as such in some labour strong holds, labour mp's will be turfed out. They are hoping for a second referendum vote/confirmatory vote before the election in the hope that the vote will reduce the amount of labour mps kicked out by their constituency so seeing it as a separate issue If they do not have that vote and go straight to a general election, then it will have a higher possible cull of labour mp's
It would be easy to say “democracy” but it’s more than that. It’s voter apathy It’s tolerating poor personal and immoral behaviour in public office It’s tolerating lies and corruption
The only choices are what is on the paper though. We vote for who we think will do best for the country, and then they don’t. why do we ‘deserve’ them. should we be out protesting ? Raising petitions ( that’s all part of their ‘game’ too, as far I know nothing’s ever come from a petition).
We deserve them because we vote for them to be put forward as a candidate and then we vote for them at the election. plenty opportunity to stop an individual becoming an MP. You could join a political party. I remember when Cecil Parkinson had to resign for having a love child. what killed majors government was continual sleaze. Nowadays it would be accepted
Ok. Surely though people would vote for someone based on what they are proposing to do, if they then get voted in and don’t do what they proposed why does that mean the people that voted for them ‘deserved’ that.
Boris Johnson described Mays deal as not worth leaving the EU for and that it would be better to stay in.
Not entirely correct. Cecil Parkinson promised Sarah Keays that he would divorce his wife and marry her, and on this basis he persuaded Sarah to agree to have his child. After she was pregnant he betrayed this promise and left her to bring up the child alone. Parkinson refused ever to meet the child, or even send her any letter or card. He was eventually forced to resign because of this despicable deceit and duplicity, which however did not prevent Margaret Thatcher from appointing him back into the Cabinet later. Sarah Keays wanted to be an MP and was a prospective parliamentary candidate, but her political career was destroyed as well.
Good old gary What stands out from that, is the I’m not a racist/bigot statement It says to me that the remainers that ignored the democratic vote and used any means they could including lying to get what they think is best
So funny, watch out in the snake pit! https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-b...ull-uk-customs-union-repubblica-idUKKBN1WR0GW
customs union? that suggests there has been some kind of agreement between the four nations of the UK. there hasn't been any agreement.
I do wonder what Johnson thinks his chances are of getting it through Parliament if it’s mays deal with the backstop by another name? it is not like he can deploy a charm offensive against opposition MPs he has behaved to belligerently towards these past few weeks
Corbyn has loads - he tweets almost daily about what he’s going to make better, yesterday was seaside towns. Swinson has one.
