748 748r Light Refurb, Well, It Started That Way.....

  1. If I give you £90 for that Ctek charger, you’re half way to a new set of D-zeus fasteners... Interested?

    I’m not sure about those screen bolts you have chosen. They don’t look right to me. Mine had T7 Torx bolts that were made of monkey metal :)

  3. FYI, I got new fairing screen bolts in s/steel from Pro-Bolt. Guess what? The originals were all seized in place and the special tool Ducati supply in the tool kit to remove them just stripped the piddling little torx head. I cut them all off with the Dremel - was well versed in such matters after Sprocketgate:D.

    The replacement Dzus I got came from CTMoto, genuine zinc plated& machined Dzus. I’ll get a photo close up to show you.

  4. Mine came out easily:D

    Just saying.

    Get some Owatrol Transyl and apply it to both ends of the pivot bolt and to the openings/slits in the rear engine casing through which the bolt passes. Do this daily for about 3 weeks it should work. I highly recommend this product as a penetrating oil.

  5. 7FD6130C-3373-4927-831F-47333BC39569.png Help. Are these the “right” ones for the 748r? I know they are for the 916 but can anyone who know for sure confirm? (But like phone a friend - no 90%s please).
    @final_edition ?

  6. 64450A08-FA4C-4DF5-A5CA-386DA98723D4.jpeg It’s not a close up but zoom in on the Dzus. That’s the new one, which I’m 99% certain is the same as the original one but I will check in my ‘parts bin’ tomorrow morning for you.

  7. The 10 for sale on flea bay have 2 like this and 8 per photo. I assumed the 2are for the undertray, not the top parts of the fairing? Getting very befuddled by this now.
    If I am spending I need to be 100%.

  8. The original OEM DZU fasteners for 94-97 748/916 were gold and slightly domed (1/4 turn zinc-chromate yellow) . I have a few original spares but am hanging on to them as I will no doubt lose one or more at some point. They are getting harder to find in the correct colour and shape at the moment.

  9. Thanks Kev. Mine is a 2001 748R 02 so does not apply I think.

  10. Mine came as a set of 10 complete with new clips, albeit the clips aren’t zinc plated but then Imnot sure if the originals were either.

    edited in response to post #150 above, mine’s a 99MY

  11. Yes, they are the right ones for a 1999MY, don't know about 2002. I checked my old ones to see earlier and they are like that, just a bit rustier:D

  12. Thank you for taking the trouble Paul. Out of curiosity, do you have two if the flat heads and 8 raised profile?

  13. I’ve got the flat ones on my ‘00 748R, but mine are silver
