I would take the 15k on offer now and extend the warranty on the hyper to 4 years, then again I would buy a second hand base hyper for £9k and bank the 6k for a rainy day, ironically dmc have a base hyper at £9300 with 295miles and best part of 4 year warranty remaining, looks like pcp on the v4 works out ok as at least you know where you stand at the end of the term £££££ wise.
If he bought a £20k V4 new, the bike is only worth approx £16500 to the dealer. The rest went to the Treasury as VAT. It's why you wouldn't get even £16k trading in a box fresh V4 regardless of how many miles it has done.
This is what people don't factor in, even the £13500 was reasonable under the circumstances - £15,000 snap his hand off time
Not really as you offset the cost vat against the retail vat , never get the loose the vat opinion as a 20k bike is a 20k bike if you are not vat registered, you never see a bike advertised at a dealer at pre vat prices, the only time that really comes into the equation is a trade sale.
The bike will have cost the dealer say £15k + VAT to buy from Ducati UK. They would have sold it for £16.5k + VAT to the customer. Its still only worth £15 to 16.5k either way. The VAT only ever belongs to the Treasury. Second hand bikes/cars are slightly different as the dealer only pays VAT on his profit margin. So if he buys it at £15k and sells at £16k, he pays £166 of that £1k profit to the Treasury. Its why their margins can be very small.
I'm interested Exige, was looking at a 1 owner 168 mile example for £31k, so £30k new would be better for me.
How much should it be ? a 996 bip was c12,500 back in 2000, and based on the inflation calculator 12500 in 2000 is ap 20,800 in 2019 .... so no more or less expensive than before, and thats for boggo bip stuff .... http://www.in2013dollars.com/uk/inflation/2000?amount=12500
Correct, but we as consumers demand cheaper and manufacturers have to compete - economists have argued for a long time that commodities will always get cheaper over the longer term. I'd prefer a 996 over a V4 but that's me
A mars bar as about 10p. Doesn’t mean a bike should cost £50k because it’s now close to £1... tv’s are less. Washing machines. Toasters. Cars. Bikes. Back then, it was 9k for a 600, again you wouldn’t pay £20k plus for one now (unless you’re bonkers) ‘it’s about supply, demand, price elasticity. Ducati are now (almost) all in a price category that makes insurance very, very difficult to obtain at any reasonable price. That will drove used prices massively down. As an example. A 21k panigale R was £1500 pa, where a 18k one is £600...
Sorry to go off topic. Had a couple of phone calls pushing V4R's at less than list price over the last week. There's a few low circa. 150 mile as new bikes about for £31-32k. But there are new bikes at this value also, however, didn't get offererd much for mine in PX. One dealer was very hush hush, all smoke and mirrors and wouldn't just tell me how much they wanted for their new V4R. Wouldn't email me the deal either. That particular dealer for the first time in my buying experience made me feel like I couldn't be bothered to buy from them either now or in the future. Back on topic, sounds like 2nd hand V4S would be a great buy come next march.
