Hello, Just registered so Newbies are us.... I had a '97 748SP back in 2000 for a few years and was tasked with rebuilding my mates 888SP5 after that. I have had a few bikes since (a couple of those "evil Jap bikes" and a couple of 675 Triumphs) and now am the proud owner of a '05 Mono 999. I have had the bike for a few months now and have been sorting out the last few years of neglect by the previous owner(s) to bring it back to its former glory. Nothing too bad just a full service, battery and some TLC. Just a few cosmetic bits to do now & then it will be ready for the 3 or 4 weeks of summer this year! It is standard aside from some adjustable levers and I intend to just ride it for a bit rather than start bolting on half of the Ducati Performance Catalogue. I have registered on here as I'm sure there will be lots of others people's experiences & wisdom to draw from and hopefully be able to share a few 999 moments myself! There are a few bits of info I could do with at some point but no big rush. Cheers, DD.
Welcome , feel like I know you already. Ah yeah it'll be " can I do my own belts" " how do I get the tension right." " is an open clutch the way to go". " what is this juddering noise I'm hearing" And the classic " which is faster yellow or red" Hello and welcome Dorset Desmond.
Thanks for the welcomes. Ha ha ha. I have certainly asked those questions in the past! The Red / Yellow question is indeed a toughy. My old Yellow 748 was fast in between melted rectifier regulators, batteries and clutch slave cylinder leaks.... I will try to attach / upload / blue tac a picture of the 999.... Although it may take some time as my personal laptop died the other day and I am now using one with a German Keyboard.... (QWERTZ!!?!! What were they thinking...?) The 999 is pretty amazing looking compared to a standard one - with its black levers an' all! Desmondcedeci
