Hey all, One of the first things i searched for when joining this forum was to see this comparison but digging through the Hyper section i did not have any luck. Without going into my story and sorry if i missed the thread but i was interested to see how an 100Evo (finely tuned with kinks taken care of) would compare to the new 950SP (which i am shopping for currently) £6k vs £15k thought it would be worth exploring this topic! Thanks all
I have just bought an 1100 SP evo at around 6k with all the right bits. I can’t imagine why anyone would pay more? It is seriously fantastic, drop me a pm for more info, I may even sell it to you as I have several other bikes!
Being the owner of an 1100 evo sp im happy with what ive got....tbh if im chasing something and going for it i love the fact that you have to wrestle with it as its pretty raw....ive caught up with people after a good run at a set of lights for them to shout over - "fuckin'ell mate! - thats a right fucking handful isnt it!...." When someone says that you know youve got the perfect hooligan bike....
Thanks Joe, little bit early I haven't Just called Ray Pretty to ask his experience with 1100's and he said just watch out you don't buy one off a hooligan LOL not an easy task
Wouldnt say thats an issue - i think im the 5th owner of mine, its also been tracked....when the engine got split Ducati John said the gearbox was in perfect nick (and at that point id had a QS on there for over a year). The old DS engine is in the old multistrada (the ugly one) and ive seen some that have clocked up some serious miles...
I am going to have to change the title thread. I just l'earnt about an 821 as well that has similar power to an 1100?! Who is responsible for all this confusion! So yes I need to open this up from 821, 939, 950 and 1100. I know it's an SP model so that something! I guess it would be helpful to talk about my riding etc and get people's in our that way?? Or is it better to just ask for an education on those models..
@Lukeinlondon The 821 may produce similar power on paper to the 1100 but they will be massively different engines to use. The 1100 is all lazy low end torque and will not want to be revved compared to the 821 which will have very different gear ratios and will enjoy a damn good thrashing. Not saying either is better, it depends what you prefer. I have not ridden the 939 or 950 so cant comment on those.
1100 will have huge torque, the other will ride more like an IL4 and need revs. later looks nicer imho, earlier model far better value both tall. Both great fun. Both wheelie for fun...the 1100 ridiculously so!
Thanks guys for your input. I hadn't considered the 821 until i came across Paton.77 on Instagram and thought it looked amazing and he has some great videos where he is ripping around
Tested the 1100 today, it's very interesting you really don't know how a bike will feel to you till you get on it you can watch all the videos. It was so weird sitting over the front wheel! It turned in so quickly but felt like it would tip over, I found the clutch to be super grabby so I stalled a handful of times and for a tall bike the pegs were pushing my legs into a squatting position which wasn't comfortable. Positives. Felt like such a small bike, front brake was brilliant and power was good Food for thought..
My 1100 evo ownwd fromnew has 53k & still not bored with it, I know what you're sayon bout sitting over the front, feels wierd initially but trust me it's better fot taking the bull by the horns if you know what I mean. Clutch should not be grabby, worn plates/basket may be the cause, easily fixed with a 48t swap. Go for the 1100 grunt rathet than the revs, easier to overtake at the drop af an opportunity.
I ran an 821 Hyperstrada for c13k miles, great bit of kit, revved cleanly and the way it delivered power meant you could have loads of fun triggering the TC even at legal (ish) speeds as opposed to having to enter licence losing territory, now have a Multi 950 and would go back to the Hyperstrada in a heartbeat .... would have bought another if they hadn't stopped them .....
