959 New V2 Panigale

  1. I like it.
    New colour screen.
    Saucy electronics.
    Return to SSSA.
Exhaust is still not as neat as the original 899/1199, but is huge improvement on the ugly shotgun jobbies and could probably be swapped for the 1299 set -up, if desired.
Rear wheel, although not forged, I'm sure will be lighter than the 899/959 original and can easily be changed of an oem lighter one.
Be nice if they made an S version, but I doubt it.
The price of the bigger bikes has got potential owners going Jap or Jerry, looks like a good bike at the right price point to me.

  2. Under the £20k insurance ceiling will appeal to many.

  3. I've noticed Tri-Options have announced they will be racing these next year. Wonder if it'll be phased in? @graeme4130
Could be some old(er) bikes up for sale.

  4. Yes. People are allowed to run the "old" 959 for next season ONLY.

I had similar thoughts of scooping a bargain :p

  5. There was a crossover period when the 899 went 959. I suspect Ducati will be keen to parade the new bike.

  6. Ahh, that's better.. remind me of why I bought my 899 when it was first offered with free termis.

  7. There is something I don't like about that, it's obviously the previous gen exhausts, but the bodywork doesnt quite align with the exhausts in my mind, especially near the rear wheel where the point of the bodywork doesnt match the shape of the exhaust.

    RBW.

  8. Most of the paddock will be for sale. They all like the new stuff! Can’t imagine many bargains this, owners seem to think thieve things are 30% more valuable than a road bike with v5!

I still kick myself for not buying Bex’s for 7k

  9. Notice they have built a bum stop into the rear seat too

  10. Not a fair comparison really. Most if not all would/should have a V5 as purchased from new. Only natural for owners to want to recover at least some of the large investment in engine rebuilds and suspension upgrades....etc etc etc.

  11. 12k for an 8k bike because it’s got an ohlins shock and slipper clutch.. and been thrashed all year. If it’s had a full refresh, decent cartridge kit, maybe it’s worth what a low miles age road bike is

  12. The last 2 ex-trioption 959s sold for -

As for 'thrashed all year', how many BSB meeting are there each year? Admittedly some get used elsewhere other than the BSB meets.
Just because there's the odd low-ball bike that doesn't mean they all have to be/should be that bargain price. IIRC the example you mention was a pretty rough example.
If you want a good track bike/race bike isn't better to buy a good example with all the parts already fitted? We're not talking about a bag of old shit DD bike held together with gaffer tape and bent nails, many of these bike are very well looked after by well funded/sponsored teams...Have a look at the True Heroes bikes should you venture near a circuit.

  13. More like it :upyeah:

no. Bex bike was a refreshed bike, ktech all round, qs, slipper. Same bikes at the time were up for 10k. It just needed bodywork painting

  14. Trouble is a lot of these so called race bikes have been stripped of most of there goodies that makes them a race bike and what you are actually getting is a set of race fairings on a pretty standard bike, most of the so called goodies will have been transferred to the new bike.
Engine refresh is a loose term with some thinking a full service equates to a refresh, not many are going to spend around 2k for a proper refresh before sale. Most of the bikes are maintained to very high level but there are dogs out there , I know I brought a dog that had done a season and half without so much as a oil change :astonished:, on the plus side I got it stupid cheap and had a full engine and suspension refresh, fully documented and still paid less than the going rate and a bike that will last me a few years.

  15. ^Agreed. You gotta use yr eyes and brain and do your research.
Point I was making is they are not £12k and the add-ons (assuming left on) are not cheap to buy, plus the add-ons are not just a slipper and ohlins rear shock.
Check the prices of new k-TECH fork internals, rear shock, rear sets, track fairings,slip-ons, blingy paint job.

  16. I don’t like the price. Nearly £4K for full Akra system. Just played on configurator and a blinged up v2 was over £20k. Gulp.

  17. Panigale V2 highlights.
In addition to the obvious SSSA, major changes include:
New injectors and inlet ducts that help the motor produce five more horsepower.
Cornering ABS, up/down quickshifit, and wheelie control.
    A 4.3-inch color TFT dashboard.
    Full LED headlights.
    A new Euro 5 exhaust.
and wait for it...Heated grips. First Panigale to get them.

  18. Good spot with the grips. It's on that video at 1:40 in as your screen grab shows. Can't see them listed on their website, only for the Multistrada.

  19. Time will tell if they're STD or as an accessory.

  20. That is good news :upyeah:. If someone could tell me it has cruise control than I'd be in the ordering line now. (If they can put heated grips and cruise on an S1000RR they should be putting it on the V2 :) )

    RBW.
