Probably but I’ve done everything myself. Oil change and belts were done Summer 2018. It’s done about a thousand miles since then, if that. I was told valves were optimised as part of the engine tweaks at about 8,000 miles, so probably due for a check before too long. Coolant, chain, pads, plugs and hydraulic fluid replaced Spring 2019
No reason for the fettling to stop OR, my father is 84 and was a bit bored, so I got him a 1955 James Captain 197cc (he had one in the 50’s), he really enjoys tinkering with this old bike, and rides occasionally on a local unadopted road and in his garden, this could be your time to become a master restorer!
Have done quite a lot on my daughter’s Hornet. Looks like a different bike to when she bought it. Clutch works properly now and you can get all the gears...
The “garage of dad” eh!, spent many a “happy” hour skinning my knuckles working on my daughters first few “bargain” cars!, luckily she’s now a teacher and buys new ones , different working on bikes though, it’s actually enjoyable.
You’re doing a great job of promoting it OR, a picture a day. It’s a cracking bike and if it weren’t for the fact it’s totally unsuitable for the roads here in rural Ireland I’d be very interested. GLWS
The 999 is allegedly more comfy than the 748 as oem and this one has Helibars, which look oem but the angle of the bars puts your hands higher enough and further back enough to make all the difference. I found it made the bike feel more ‘flickable’ as well. Perfect for Ireland... lol
There are some but there are also some dire ones however the stunning scenery and beautiful weather more than makes up for it Don’t you start now. I’ve Finm trying to sell me a bike in another thread as well. The plan is when my 748 goes I’ll get something that either needs complete refurbishment or something I can build a custom bike from. Hmmmm, now you’re talking. I like the sound of that
