Farage did run in 2015 ge but the tories threw the entire party machine against him and he lost. He stayed on as a ukip mep to help run the leave argument which was won in 2016. Having seen the leave the eu side win the referendum, he stepped down as leader of ukip In 2017 other than his mep duties, he largely took a back seat in U.K. politics believing parliament should do the right thing In December 18 he left ukip after the new leader took on Tommy Robinson as an advisor In feb 2019 he announced he would continue his mep role but for the newly formed Brexit party In March 2019 he was announced the leader of the brexit party In May 2019 he took the newly created Brexit party into the european elections and became the largest single party within the eu parliament That timeline should help some who are clearly confused
Just a guess, It's likely he would have been selected to have run for thurrock and would have won. By doing that it removes him from the eu arena where we need a strong presence and awareness of what the crafty fekkers are upto. It's a bit like a conductor of a symphony, you get better results if the conductor can see everything, become an mp and he would have been in charge of only one section. like him or love him, he is a strong campaigner No other leader could create a party one month and then be the largest single party in europe only months later and could create 650 candidates in a uk election only a few months after that
