  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

chances are, I am a tad conservative. (old school). I have some pretty hard nosed views when it comes to unemployment and taking what's available. but I aint no tory. more a liberal in the Ashdown/kennedy mold.

  4. I'll try again.

You do realise that the major part of these countries' defence strategy consists of being aligned, or at least allied, with a country with a large military force?

And you are again conflating bellicosity with the ability to defend oneself. It's almost as if you are suggesting that the only way for a country to not act aggressively is to remove their own defensive capability. I'm certain you don't mean that.

Can you think of a country in the West with a very large military force who has recently given up military adventurism in favour of diplomatic and economic strategies?
Hint: this country had a change of leadership and direction in 2016.

  11. It can't be, as anyone who thinks a nation with over 800 bases, spread over 70 countries and the largest miltary budget in the world requires all this to defend themselves is delusional.

  16. Perhaps Loz is trying to say, those countries looking down at the u.s. by saying Oh look at our defence strategy, we use a silk glove, do so knowing if a bigger country messes with them and they are not in nato, then the soft glove country knows it has the hammer time support of the said usa.

Which is odd when you consider that all but a few refuse too and have continued to under pay the recommended 2% of gdp thus leaving the American tax payer to pick up the tab.

In some ways and election related, Scotland is looking to do the same thing should it become independent. They have already indicated they do not feel they need armed forces but more of a defence force but ultimately if anyone attacked Scotland (likely to be russia through access ways and by accident) they would expect immediate support from the U.K. although no longer an eu country and support from the eu which as with seen with the Ukraine, aint worth a toss.

  17. The genius hasn't yet worked out why none of America's allies have military forces comparable to those of the US.
He will get there though. I have faith in him : o D

What's that famous phrase I am thinking of?
Oh yeah, "The Best defence is to hunker down and hope that no one notices you."
