  1. yeh I payed 192.00 for my sony as15.
they all seem good and capable but my choice came down to other gear I have got in the house ps3's tv's etc and the longevity and reliability for me was a no brainer as nowt has ever gone wrong touch wood...

  2. I've had a play about with the mounting positions etc. using my mate's Hero 3. Reckon the only options are to use the adhesive mounts but I'm a bit scared to go sticking it on the fairing etc. in case I can't get the glue off again...

I also can't get it to connect to my iPhone as it says the wifi password is incorrect but my mate never changed it from the standard one... Argh! So I guess that means I'll need to mount it and line it up by eye. I can manage that though I guess, but this is one of the main reasons I reckoned a 3 was better than a 2, so I could see what I was shooting before riding away. Never mind, I can't complain at a free week long trial can I?

Can't actually film anything until early next week though as I'm busy all weekend... I'll come back and let you know how it goes.

  3. Looking at it, the Sony, GoPro or the Drift all seem like very good bits of kit. I am really keen to see how this test goes with the GoPro, but the Ghost and Sony look brilliant too.

  5. had the gopro hd 2, wasnt that impressed, you had to buy extra anti fog strips or shove tissue paper in the case to stop the lens steaming up. has to be the Drift HD ghost. 3 hours battery, adjustable lens, remote, built in wifi, view screen so you can set up the shot, external mic.....blah blah blah.......
just used the code and it worked fine. cheers.

  6. a good idea for anti fog is the little silica bags you get when you buy something electrical. just squeeze one in there..
amazon had a good deal on some drift cams and I looked at the hd ghost. but what put me off was no image stabilisatiin or the ability to seemingly not to be able to transfer files via the built in wifi what I thought made it kinda pointless.

  7. I was planning to test out my mate's Hero 3 tonight but the whole adhesive mount thing is putting me off. I'm concerned it will mark the paint after I take it off.

The video of the Sony with the stabilisation looked very good though. Really in a quandry now about whether to buy a camera at all due to the mounting.

  8. The adhesive mounts will come off with a heat gun/ hair drier

  9. Ok cheers, that's maybe not too bad then. I'll try and test out my mate's camera and see how it goes. I reckon once I test it out that will make my mind up whether to go for one or not.

  10. Lots of interesting and useful info on this thread....but none of it helps me to make up my mind either.

Seems they all have pros and cons but the battery life of the GoPro seems a big minus to me.

  11. Never had a pproblem with battery on my go pro cameras (hd hero and hd hero 2)

you can also get a battery backpack as well if your worried about it that much.

  12. What exactly do you use yours for then? I find that the only thing that I have against this 2 and 3 is the battery, more so on the 3.

  13. It's not complex if you value the ability to actually use the camera. Battery Life + Usability?

On those two points, the Drift Ghost murders the GoPro. Drift is usefully cheaper like-for-like compared to the GoPro.

  14. If you want amazingly crisp footage, use 2.7k 30fps on the GoPro HD 3. Its my favourite res at the moment as you can see everything super high res!

  15. Use it for lots of things:
    trackdays
    short videos
    photos
    long continuous recording

  16. there really are other options for mounting other than adhesive pads. I use a suction cup type with re-useable screw type cable ties on my yoke top.

  17. QUOTE=timberwolf;145966]Any of you guys got any youtube footage on your camera's so i can have a butchers please?
As Andy says, £300 is a big hit in the wallet and I am unsure as to how much better a gopro3 black or a drift ghost would actually be over the previous models.
I have a 50" 1080p tv and wondered, when burning your footage to a dvd via a standard pc burner, would i lose the 1080p quality anyway? If so, it would be pointless in spending the extra £100 etc on a better quality camera. Can anyone explain for me please?[/QUOTE]

The copy I have here at home looks way better quality than the youtube images even though it says it's in 1080P Looks film quality clear on a big flat screen TV.

  18. From the research I did, and checking out youtube, best quality and highest cost go pro, better value and excellent picture Drift

  19. Best quality what, Bradders? (goPro). Picture, build?

Anyone have a footage from an Action Drift? It seems the better option for me as long as the quality of the footage is good.
