?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. When Labour in particular go on about oxbridge and the tories, only 24% of ALL mp's went oxbridge

or to simplify this, tories with a degree is bad because they are the elite, every other parties mp's/leaders with a degree is the common man fighting their way up so is good

  2. You choose which candidate you want from a list. You don't choose who is on the list.

  3. Oh. I see what you mean.

The original point was that we don't insist the politicians all come from a university / 'best schools' background. I wonder what stops people from other backgrounds entering in to politics.

  4. A report from the charity found that 29% of current MPs came from private schools. Just under half (45%) of the Conservative party MPs were privately educated, compared with 15% of the Labour party.

The Sutton Trust founder and chairman, Sir Peter Lampl, said: “Social mobility – the potential for those to achieve success regardless of their background – remains low.

  5. Party selection process will have a huge impact on this. Tories appear to choose far more privately educated candidates than Labour do.

45% of Tory MPs attended private schools. 6.5% of children attend private schools. The appears to be a huge bias in the Tory party to candidates that are from a certain "background" or "class".

  6. Which would be weird as they have to pass their own constituency selection board before they pass anyone else. Are you saying their own parties are choosing uni candidates over non uni candidates?

If you are, then labour, lib dems, snp, greens etc etc are being elitist in their own selection process's?

  7. Perhaps

<a href="https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/where-will-our-future-politicians-come-from.74178/">Where Will Our Future Politicians Come From?</a>

is a more suitable thread to discuss it.

I don't suppose anything will change but be nice to think (for me anyway) that more politicians came from a different background.

  8. For as long as people vote for the Tory priviledged class, and don't question why the Tories choose from the private schools above all other candidates, nothing will change. That is evident by looking at their actual actions.

The Tories are urging the Turkeys to vote for Christmas. The Turkeys are doing so. Some Turkeys are demanding the date is brought forward.

  10. If grammar schools then cambridge and oxford are the training grounds of the eltie so you cannot trust them, would you trust this person

They passed the 11 plus examination and gained entry to Reigate Grammar School, then a voluntary aid school. They then studied law at the university of Leeds and graduated with a first class bachelor of laws (LLB) degree in 1985. They then undertook post graduate studies at st edmunds hall Oxford and graduated from the University of Oxford with a bachelor of civil law degree in 1986

  11. No, sounds like a postman to me :yum

  12. if he is a tory or brexit party or a liberal or labour candidate then no.

  13. would you say Edinburgh university fin, is one of scotlands elite universities?

If so how would you view a tory mp coming through this elite university and how would you view a snp politician also coming from that university for the elite ?

  14. Is your postman this member from an elite oxbridge uni?

  15. No one reasonable would discriminate against anyone on the basis oif their schooling.

Everyone reasonable would expect all social groups, educational backgrounds, minorities, gender to be treated evenly.

Why do private school kids who make up 6.5% of the children get 45% of Tory MP roles? Why don't the other 96.5% get a better sucess rate? They do with Labour.

  16. i would say if he is a member of todays tory party then he is not to be trusted.

  17. So anyone coming from a scottish elitist university is not to be trusted unless it's someone like this perhaps who did come through the very same scottish elitist university

  18. i said if they joined todays tory party (after having a first class education and therefor no excuse) they are not to be trusted.
