Depends who uses the ballot papers to vote in Plymouth and whether the students are expecting to vote at home instead!
No, but they are only permitted to vote at one location. Why would someone want to register students for another location rather than their choice. It could be to “do them a favour in case they are too busy to register for themselves”, but it could also to be a cynical attempt to acquire five hundred voting cards so they can be used fraudulently?
A nice Reuters link for Noobs https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-b...0-billion-pound-payroll-tax-cut-idUKKBN1XU1UC Thing is, if Labour are freeby artists extraordinaire, how can this lot have so many ‘freebies’ without being the same? Mystery eh..
Thank you rueters northern france correspondent. This is in line with the poorest who were seen to be lifted out of the lower tax and now applying the same to their n.i. Do you think there will be in bilionaires in there? Jeremy told us cuts wee only happening to the rich. Let me fact check it
So its a glass half full (favor) or half empty (fraud). Is there any history of the council in question being done or accused of massive fraud?
I find it astonishing that someone can register another person to vote without there permission or knowledge, never mind 850.
It all needs a thorough update. I'd like to see an id card system at the polling station to prevent fraud, but a big effort would need to be made to ensure everyone entitled to vote got their voter id card (or whatever the system needed). Roll on internet voting.
They have done the exact same thing before, recently and had already been warned but did it again anyway https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/plymouth-city-council-fresh-row-3556365
Interesting. But EVERYTHING he says could be attributed to BoJo’s camp. I know where my money would go on.
Plymouth CC said "We are writing to these young people to let them know that they will need to complete an Invitation to Register in order to be placed on the register in time for them to vote on 12 December 2019. We have also updated the system so no ineligible young people are left on the register." So a stupid mistake (again) but resolved.
I thought voter id cards were suggested by Tories and labour said that'd reduce voter participation and harm smaller ethnic groups?
I believe they said it would be id cards through the back door and would be an intrusion into peoples human rights
You might be correct. I can only suppose Labour had some qualms as to how the revised system was to be implemented. It would require a great deal of effort to ensure no eligible voters were excluded. Looking at how the government cannot work out who immigrated to the country 40 years ago on the Windrush highlights the difficulties.
