Can't see it all as I don't subscribe. Basically if I vote for Corbyn and it turns out it needs to be a coalition, Labour would change leaders to get a coalition ? That would not be getting what I voted for.
Agree, nobody should vote. (though I believe then they draw straws ) None of the above I think, and if that comes out on top sack the lot of them (properly, no job, no pay).
You think Corbyn is divisive because of what the Tories have done, and nothing to do with his own actions past or present. Ok, your view and yet not the one of your SNP leader it would seem. Not a fan of Blair, but yes someone more centrist with sensible policies would be a breath of fresh air, not everything has to be measured in extremes. As for the Labour manifesto proposals, what out of that long list is already in place in Scotland and working well? Genuine question as I've no idea. And regards taxation at £80k and the extra 5% up to £150k isn't the end of the world and I've no issue with that, personally Id rather taxation be 'total home income' based, not individual, that'd be fair for all but thats a different discussion. But no, no tears here for the £80k marker, more the point that its not honest to tell everyone its only £80k+ earners who will be paying more, especially when its quite obvious to most within business that increased corporation tax and higher basic wages will push up prices. But yes, all Westminster parties are pish, if only we had a ENP
Deffo a conspiracy going on The top Jew man's latest statement utter bullshine, JC has spent life fighting antisemitism.
These religious zealots are what is so wrong in this world, have your faith yes, but keep it to yourself.
Agreed. There is something not right with this lot coming out of the woodwork at each ‘convenient time’ though, throughout the election campaign. You dont hear them shouting Islamaphobia at the Tory lot. It doesnt need too much thought to work it out. Probably for elsewhere but there are some uncomfortable discussions that should be had about the whole Israel/Palestine thing as well..
i think the country is devided. when you have a sucession of govs introducing devisiv policies, (5th richest ecconomy bollox yet we have thousands dying within a month of being deemed fit for work) along with everything else, yer gonna get a pollar opposit opposition leader. you have no idea? i dont know weather to beleive you, or call, "bull shit". you guys are always telling us how it is up here. free uninversity tuition since 2007 built over 30.000 social and affordable homes. maintained police numbers and crime at a 40 year low. free presciptions. got rid of bridge tolls built the queensferry crossing and boarders railway. (not deemed national infrostructure projects. froze councill tax for 9years free bus travil for the over 60s free care for the elderly nurse and care worker numbers up their wages higher than rUK better waiting times than rUK baby box mitigating the bedroom tax. promoting and funding green energy projects funding a population share of trident funding a population share of the conflics in the middle east. funding a population share of HS2, cross rail and many other national infrostructure projects not carried out in scotland. this list is long, this could go on all day.
https://www.ifs.org.uk/publications/13287 "The main reason for Scotland’s higher implicit budget deficit is that government spending per person is higher than the UK average while onshore tax revenues are a little lower than the UK average. For instance, Table 1 shows that in 2017–18, government spending per person was 13.2% above the UK average, but onshore revenues were 4.7% below the UK average. At their current low levels, offshore oil and gas revenues from the North Sea can only make up a small part of this difference."
'You guys' always telling us how it is up here? Bit of a generalised comment. So yes, some of the policies but a country mile from them all isn't it really. And that's my point, free prescriptions and university fees, nurses and policing, all sensible and much more credible. Privatisation of open reach and everything else, raises in Corp tax at the same time of minimum wage increases, it's all those things that will ultimately cost everyone in the UK daily due to either a lack of investment, the clipping of work forces and / or price increases. So had they not gone balls deep straight from the off maybe in term two they could have introduced other bits, but they've gone all out
no, the reason we have a higher deficit is because we are givin a population share of uk expences and debt repayments. we do not creat that debt, it is allocated to us. yes, our spending is higher per person, a quick example, how much does it cost to run a thousad schools of 10 kids compared to 10schools with a thousand kids? you can take those costs and aply them to most areas of gov responcibilty. the gers figures are our (25 out of the 26 figures used are estimated) position in the uk. bring back our civil service 5-10bill in tax recepts braught back to our figures. trident. 20bill over its life time. midle east your guess is as good as mine a population share of uk nationl infrostructue projects not happening in scotland. funding tax cuts that benifit the wealthiest in the UK, mostly around london and the S.E. a population share of serevicing UK debt. run up by labour and torys. 42billion barrals of oil the uk's biggest exports. a massive tourest industry. the only part of the uk with a trade surplus. the lowest unemplyment rates in the uk. an abundance of renewable energy (any countrys biggest expence). alledgedly responsible fot half of the UK's deficit. uh-huh.
This is the key part of the snp brainwashing. I'm not responsible for a lady in Scotland having an operation and yet my funds could end up there as the U.K. income is shared throughout the U.K. You saying we are Scotland, not the U.K. does stop Scotland getting money from the U.K. and yet the snp thinks that absolves them from any shared U.K. debt You don't mind getting the highest rate of spend per person in the U.K. it's like gimme the cash but not the bills. That is not an attack on the people of Scotland that is a direct review of how the snp see's economics Let me show it another way As the U.K. leaves the eu, the eu has said You pay your debts or there will be no future deal talks You pay your debts or other countries are unlikely to deal with you knowing you do not pay your debts You, no matter how much you have paid in and now have chosen to leave, are not entitled to any eu assets let alone per person ratio assets The SNP's version of leave is These are not our debts and we should not pay them even though we have had benefits from the same system also nope we are still not paying our debts as part of the u.k. Okay, if we are forced to pay our debts we want a percentage share of all U.K. assets and that would be such as a percentage, well of everything really If you look at the indi 1 manifesto that was put out for the 2014 indi ref, there were the breakdowns of this and it even went as far as well if the U.K. has 8 battle ships, we think we should have two when we leave and the armed forces of the U.K. are 190,000 people, we want 30,000 of those (the numbers are not exact as I can't be arsed to read indi doc again but is used to show how they were demanding "their share") it is like a child with a ball honestly And all the figures and parts fin lists above, like most snpites forget for many of the projects they stand proud of have been enabled with U.K. money as a U.K. share. Add to that, the snp still struggle with the currency question. If they were already in the eu as Scotland and using the euro but decided to leave the eu, everyone with the slightest bit of common sense knows the eu would stop Scotland using the euro. If Scotland was in the eu and chose to leave it and rejoin the eu, it would have to use the British pound and they would accept that. However, the snp has NO answer to the currency question so buries their head in the sand and insist they can use the currency of a block that they will have chosen to leave
You make some very good points! Labour - Are under Momentum's influence and their aim is to radically change the Labour party and expel any smell of Blair. This is more important to them than being electable. With the present antisemitism problem (wish the chief Rabbi had waited another week) unaffordable economic policies and muddled strategy over Brexit, they deserve to be crushed. If they are, hopefully there will be a major internal review and change in direction with Momentum banished. I don't think this is likely but can only hope. Lib Dems - Yes major mistake in taking such a hardline to revoke article 50. Going for the 2nd referendum while pushing for remain would have worked so much better for them. Conservatives - I have to disagree; I think their manifesto is a good one in the circumstances. You have to bear in mind the terrible 2017 campaign and they need to ensure they are safe this time and don't have another Dementia tax mess. I think we should all try and look at the UK from a distance. lowest unemployement/highest employment for decades, continued economic growth when many of the main EU economies are struggling, low inflation, wage growth has kicked up, harsh austerity cuts being wound back. Boris has actually achieved a lot considering his lack of majority in HofC and the impact of Bercow. He can work with the EU leaders and they do seem to respect him and treat him as a real player, unlike May. He will be well placed to take on the next challenge after Brexit to get new trade deals in place, especially with the EU. Just look at the warmth of these greetings. Nobody is saying it but I don't think the EU want us to stay as we'd be a continuing disruptive influence and always a future threat of departing. https://www.euronews.com/2019/10/17...is-johnson-toasts-brexit-deal-with-eu-leaders
I'm not sure where you get all these "facts" from? Maybe you need to check them out as to just look at one: "the lowest unemplyment rates in the uk." Answer: In Scotland, the unemployment rate was 4%, compared to 3.8% in the UK as a whole. The number of men out of work rose from 51,000 in the February to April to 62,000 in May to July. There was also a rise in female unemployment over the period, from 40,000 to 48,000
But the trend is downward for Scottish unemployment. It is half what it was in 2010. https://www2.gov.scot/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Labour-Market/LMTrends
Employment among Scots of working age rose by 22,000 to just over 2.61 million over the quarter - an employment rate of 75.9%. Meanwhile, unemployment north of the border fell by 3,000 to 91,000. The jobless rate now stands at 3.3%, compared with the UK figure of 3.8%, according to the Office for National Statistics.11 Jun 2019. scotlands rate fluctuates because of the nature of our ecconomy.
Before any Scots vote again for the SNP, please do at least take a look at this interview from March 2016. Things have not improved much, I think the deficit is still 7+%, still the worst of all the EU countries.
Question: Should the Dec 12th thread and the Indy 2 thread be blended into one? Or is that just the privilege of a few special players who post about either subject in either thread? You see that 5% of our wonderful land appears to take up 100% (understandably) of one thread and about 80% (which is frankly ridiculous) of the other.
