  1. OK that makes sense then, mine seems to have a tapered smaller diameter in that area. I no longer feel as smug as I was an hour ago...

  2. They're better than they used to be. You used to have to wait a good few days for them to come out. That's also the benefit of having the manufactures come out 8/10 they wont need to order a part they will have it on their van.

  4. made me wonder how many people had tried to rescue the "damsel in distress" so far.

  5. Is she a mermaid?

  6. No, she is Dockyard Doris from Portsmouth harbour, i recognise her, one of the hairy ass matelots must have smuggled on board, filled her up and jettisoned her into the pond.

  12. Sat here quietly steaming  Just had the bike mechanic on the phone, Carole’s R6 is a lemon, bike stalls on tick over when run up to temperature because the crank case is venting high pressure into the air box which is indicative of buggered rings or a cracked liner. As the compression test was reasonable, looks like a cracked liner which means new cases (yeh right, for a 20 year old engine?) or find another engine and run the risk of getting another lemon.:mad::mad::mad: Andy

  13. Something strange is happening. . Everytime I post on here my browser opens a page to book a trip to St Petersburg with trip advisor. ..

  14. You're a Russian spy?

  15. Basic compression test or full leakage test Andy? if the former then worth getting full test done if possible as will shed more light on problem.

  16. I’m guessing just a basic compression test. Not sure what you mean by a full test though Steve. The mechanic is a basic back street shop who is very reputable but not sure he will have the kit to do anything more complicated. Andy

  18. Damn!
Should have bought my gixer :p

  19. My apologies Paul, for a reason I cannot explain, I forgot we had spoken about your gixxer. The appearance of the R6 was nothing to do with me, I was just presented with ‘I’ve found an R6, will you come and look at it with me ?’ There was nothing wrong that was apparent with it, started, ran, all the gears worked, just didn’t know that a cracked liner was a known issue. I’m convinced the person who traded it in to the dealer it came from knew something was wrong. Sadly the terms and conditions of the trader she bought it from, were bought as seen. Andy
