Bike Magazine - Reclaim Our Tracks - dates announced

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by mattmccabebrown, Feb 25, 2013.

  1. I did 2 Bike mag track days last year. Rode there and back both times; one a 400 mile round trip. Have booked Oulton this year. last year at Oulton it rained all morning. Some people did turn up in vans despite Bike saying in their publication, No Vans, No Track Bikes. People who turn up with track bikes get turned away and don't get their money back. There are so many track days for track bikes so they can't say they miss out!

  2. Yep  It looks like they are running four groups on that day, so thats 20mins on, 60 off, which is a bit of a shame, but there's certainly no reason why you shouldt do it. Brands is a great track and if you can get to the earlier one, the Indy circuit is really east to learn

  3. Dom, Pete, are you guys still going down tomorrow. Anybody else going to be there?

  4. Sure am Matt. me and my mate Andy on his Triumph Street TripleR.

    Weather looks ok thankfully :upyeah:

  5. See you there 7.30 Matt. Weather forecast is probably dry, cloudy, mild, gusty SW wind - so pretty good.

  6. Black, no sugar thanks

  7. Today was a bit of a fiasco for me, because I arrived at Snetts to find a nail in my tyre. Managed to get the puncture repaired well enough for the road, but not good enough for the track so I had to scrub. Oh well, there's always another day. Also there was a crash with a guy seriously injured on the track when his helmet came off, so this dampened the mood a bit. Hope he'll be OK. Matt and DomRusty got in some track time.

  8. Gutted for you. A long way to go for no track time. Nevermind, there's always donnington!

  9. Despite the horrible accident the day went well. Pete I feel for you, but It was nice to meet up again. Dom, pleasure as always
I do hope the rider pulls through. It was really really nasty, but we all know what could, but thankfully rarely happens

  10. That's a real shame about your puncture. I had a similar experience a couple of years ago of loosing a day. Took the bike to the track on a trailer, then discovered I had brought the wrong bike keys, mumpty!
However it pails into insignificant proportions compared to the nasty accident that you spoke of.
my best wishes go to the poor individual involved.

  11. That was bad luck Pete. Good to catch up at least. I didn't fare much better - started feeling a bit shivery during the morning and hardly got out in the afternoon - spent most of the time asleep on the grass by the Cafe, trying to keep out of the wind . Feels like I have the flu or something. Still, was better than being in the office!!

    cheers,
    Dom

  12. I wonder where you went Dom. I kept popping past your garage to see you bike just sat there. You should have said something so I could of borrowed your lid and bike and stole a few more laps

  13. And there we have it... The 'laced up leather jeans' brigade with 'Reclaim our Tracks' bollocks. If you go for some track time with no kit there is a very good chance or potential that your day will be cut short or become a non starter. It irks me somewhat that there is discrimination against the regular track day goer.

Ps Can I bring my big fuck off motor home...

    Carlos Checa.

    Incoming......

  14. Awww... diddums. Did poor little you miss out on something?

I think you'll find it's called marketing: different events ('products') targeted at different audiences. Clearly you wouldn't have felt comfortable surrounded by the 'laced up leather jeans' brigade, so perhaps this particular event just wasn't for you?

    Feel better now?

  15. I agree with the previous post. For the information of Mary Hinge, the regulations for Bike Mag days are no different to any other MSV event. Zip together 2 piece or 1 piece leathers.
I think if you turned up in laced up leather jeans or chaps you would be send back to the rodeo where you obviously belong!
there are plenty of events available for vans, trailers and tyre warmers.
Some of us who only ride road bikes choose not to go to them, but support Bike Mag events. It's called choice.

  18. Hi Guys - just booked Cadwell on May 16th - anybody else ?? I have it on good authority ( my dreams) that the weather will dry and sunny, no-one will get a nail or have a whoopsy. The only Old Nail in view will be my 900SS !!

  19. Hi Dave,
I will be there on my Multistrada and a mate on a VFR.
See you there, don't bring your lace up jeans!

  20. The missus wears those on a Saturday Night if I have been a Good Boy !!
