Too good to be true ?

  1. He added a note today that the reserve is £11600 and only 24h auction.... there are 5 other 1098Rs on eBay, all with far less extras and all between 14k and 16k. It's all a bit strange but TBH it's probably a deal of a lifetime for someone... or there's something seriously wrong with this bike.

  2. Anyone live near by?

    For that money...!?!?! Jeeez...

  3. Still a lot of money.

  4. I noticed that it sold last night for £12050 and thought that someone had got themselves a bargain but like Mervyn I noticed it back for sale this morning. The winning bidder had 28 feedback, maybe he changed his mind or as mentioned a mate ??? Well worth a call to JHP to ask if the bike is ok if someone was interested in it.

  5. I would be suprised if JHP would give out info on a bike being sold privately. If the bike was that good and JHP new its history i'm sure it would have sold already to someone in the know.

  6. The guy I spoke to the other day rang JHP and just asked if they knew of the seller and they said the seller and bike were legit. At the time I never asked him if he got any other information out of them, maybe not as he did not elaborate further on what they said. Just call them and ask about it, say it was one of their customers and that you would be using them for any work if you bought it, that would maybe sway them to give you some info on it ?

  7. Although the auction has 30 mins to go I have received an email from the seller offering it me at £11850.He obviously picked me out of the list of previous bidders.
I still think there is something odd about this sale and not being able to go and see it at the moment I will give it a miss.
Call me old fashioned but if something looks to good to be true-----------

  8. I bet you're not far from the truth with that.

  9. With the reserve that low, wouldn't one of the stealers have nabbed it by now?

I smell fish...and not in a good way!

  10. Hi Nelson.I reckon your bang on there.I have replied to his offer, pointing out I am not available till next week to view and that payment is no problem. If he accepts I will be asking for all sorts of questions before getting to excited.Being retired I have plenty of time to ferret about.

  11. Well the bike is now back on Ebay at a price of £16000 ono.
Not suprisingly I have not received a reply to the straightforward email I sent the seller.

  12. What on earth is going on there! Totally bizzare.

  13. Just had a reply from the seller-in perfect English, with a different name and tel no.
He said he will not re list it if I am serious. However he re listed it this morning on a classified ad at £16000 or offers.
I had asked him in my email to contact me next week.Shall wait and see if he does contact me.

  14. I did google map his address last week and it did not appear to have a garage etc. I realise it may be kept elsewhere but many things are not adding up. Why would he now use a different name etc?

  15. Hi Timberwolf.
I do wonder why he is going to all this trouble. As previously pointed out a local dealer would have snapped it up by now after 3 different attempts on ebay.I expect we will never know.

  16. This gets odder and odder day by day. If we assume this isn't some sort of scam, the only reason i can think of for the way things have gone, is that he is trying to get as much of his outlay back as possible. Thing is though, why would anyone pay for leathers, helmet, gloves and boots that they don't want. The bike should have come with Termi's in the first place, so why pay for Acrapovic as well. It looks to me as if the guy is having "sellers remorse" It would be better for him to split it and sell the bike on it's own.

  17. I have been in contact with the "seller" and I would be very wary of this apparent bargain of a lifetime.Nothing I have observed in the marketing of this bike gives me any confidence that everything is above board.

  18. has anyone got the reg number to run an HPI on it

  19. HY08CEO is the number given.

  20. I would have thought if a full hpi comes back good and also all documentation is present and numbers tally upon inspection, the worst case scenario is that we are dealing with whats known as a NUMBTY

perhaps more money than sense. I have stumbled upon them before. bloody hard work but sometimes it swings in your favour.

I drove to london 3 years ago from newcastle to buy a canon eos 1dsmk2 camera. £600 cash. the seller was hard to communicate with but I persevered with an expectation that it could go bad - it didnt, no wasted journey. just amazement that he didnt bat an eye
