This was the original bikerglory investigation into Norton in 2012. Pretty much essential reading for anyone interested in the reality of the operation at that point. There's a rumour that they've received loads of V4 complaints and may be working on another piece, so maybe get in touch with them if you've had issues. I also suspect that the bikes are only 10% of the real story re Norton, we'll have to wait and see.....
I’m loving the hope some are still demonstrating. It’s what keeps humans going. And it’s Christmas, so maybe there will be a miracle...
I cant believe anyone still has a deposit on one of these bikes.I hope it works out ,I really do.Christ, what a mess.
Dear Santa. Can you please have a word with the CEO of Norton. There are many boys & girls who really hope they have a good Crimbo
There are now three on EBay so they are getting delivered slowly. All listed at a very optimistic premium over the purchase price. Perhaps if I call Norton and tell them I'm desperate to flip the bike for a stupid profit before the bubble bursts I might get myself up the waiting list?
I'd be cheered by this if I had a deposit down. Though TBH I would have already demanded it back or started winding them up. I really hope you get your bike!
Anyone who does any financial due diligence would have run a mile before making any kind of investment in the soap opera, V4s included. The informatiom was out there and a lot more is coming to light.. It's kind of staggering how easily the punters were reeled in. The bike press (bikerglory excepted) have an awful lot to answer for re Norton. It'll all come out in the wash though.
Hmm, not sure 3 on the bay all at once gives me a warm feeling tbh. Part of the strong residuals is due to limited numbers / availability. Having 3 out at once is only any good if there are more than that number looking to buy one, at that price. If there was a new unreg'd bike available for the new price (i.e. not significantly inflated) I would have previously been tempted. Not even sure I am now. The overall feeling of can't be ar$ed seems to have set in. I can't even be ar$ed to ask for my deposit back at the moment Maybe that will change when (!? IF ?!) I finally get the call.
But at least you know bikes are being produced, which is a huge improvement on the recent past? But you guys are braver (and probably richer) than me. After reading this "the original bikerglory investigation into Norton" post #441 - if true I would never have taken the chance.
I'm afraid it was spot on, there was a vast amount of verified evidence, named sources etc etc. Why all this was left to a small niche website is anyone's guess. Or is it? Because its happening all over again, and the silence from the Bauer media titles is again deafening. Then again they have deep rooted links to Garner and Norton, eg. a recent long standing editor of MCN now represents Garner PR wise. Full time job, I'd imagine.... I'm afraid that's spot on as well. The pensions operation was also incrediby adept at getting money off people under highly questionable circs.... hence the ombudsman wading in. In fact quite a few people are wading in, but as usual the bike media are staying schtum.
I found all this out in March and got the solicitors involved and got every penny back plus interest plus my legal fees.I also cancelled my MCN subscription and will never buy that newspaper again!!
Pretty sure I'm dafter too. Not sure on the stubborn, just dafter I think. My avatar says it all If my bike materialises and its at a point that I'm feeling flush enough and daft enough, and the 'cant be ar$ed'ness has worn off, I may still take a punt. Chris, you did the right thing, at least you have had a new V4R to play with during the summer
Can someone summarise what’s going on here because this looks sketchy as fuck! I would read all 23 pages but... well... it’s 23 pages.
Listened to 5 live on the way to work this morning it was part broadcast from the Norton Factory. They had a load of people there banging spanners on the benches to make it sound like they were building bikes Mr Garner sounded very positive 80% of his production is going abroad. The other 2 bikes were given to the makers of the new Bond film and had just come back for repairs
