Will an 11/1299 engine drop/slide/fall, straight in to an 899? I’m fairly sure mag cases, valve heads & deep sump from an 1199 will fit an 899 engine. Cheers.
IIRC there was thread on some US forum where it was done. You'd need new electronics as well I'd have thought.
The stator side case is slightly different but other than that dimensions even sump are the same. I have all 1199 case stuff and sump on my 899. And apparently airbox you have the swinger already so yeah, but as nelson said all electronics so bit of a job and frankenstein. Can't flog yours and pick up a cheap 1199? It's what I have done and all from a comfortable chair.
I like mine so was just curious as I’ve been told conflicting info regarding engine differences; regarding dimensions etc.
I’m pretty sure the naked sssa swinger was lighter than the o/e 899 one. BUT when you add axle etc the sssa one is heavier. Which is why I have a BST rear wheel in mine. (I’ll see if I wrote down the weights). Fully fuelled mine weighs 192kg.
You’d think. But the eccentric hub is heavy. I have a spare so can weigh that. Just comparing swingarms the 1199 is lighter. But when you build them up, putting in hub, axle, disc etc then the 1199 is heavier.
@able duc not all the weight info but here’s what I’ve weighed: 899 swing arm approx 8.3kg 1199 hub is 1485g 1199 rear axel with disc 2669g
