It’s the culture of the board reduce Scots to dogs and and inanimate objects the follow on is, if it’s called out for what it is in a matter of fact way, the response is a laughable, childish retreat under the duvet
1990-95 Lived in Lanark and worked in Glasgow (Tollcross). Food industry/Engineer/Manufacturing. Sister still lives in Dunfermline (so I know it's still the same now). My 2 youngest born in the William Smellie hospital (Lanark). Let's take this to a different thread if you want to carry on ?
By way of example as to the issue of standards and Brexit. One of the largest European manufacturers in my industry, knowingly supplied product which it knew to be illegal in terms of flammability. At the time the company ay I worked for produced their offer in both flammable and fire retardant versions. this cost a lot more money as it requires the purchase of a second tool and management of twice as many part numbers. what does this tell us as members of the EU? 1) that we did have control of our own laws 2) that companies do not want to have market specific variants for every production the consequence of our divergence from EU product rules means more overhead and less profit, which means less tax take for the government. The government estimates the cost of this and additional paperwork associated with export to the EU to be £15billion. Or about £1.7billion in tax take for HMRC. back to the company in my industry. My firm was making good headway against this other market leader firm, in taking market share. Their eventual response was to campaign to have the building regulations changed to suit their product. They succeeded in England but not in Scotland, because funnily enough, nothing in the physics of fire has changed
I apologise, I must be especially slow today. That still doesn't explain, to me, why leaving the EU affects standards in business.
Yep. This ^ It makes me chuckle to see all of the faux outrage by some on here at supposedly being “threatened” by @749er when it’s clear he’s doing nothing of the sort and merely pointing out the obvious, ie: that he doubts they’d be so bold with their gleeful mockery and insults if they had to do it face fo face with a Scotsman in a pub rather than from behind the comfort and safety of their keyboard. Their outrage is almost as fake as the concern which BoJo and Jacob Rees Mogg now show for areas of the country and classes of people who up until very recently they either ignored or despised....... But on the other hand, any group of middle aged men which gets so upset about one speech by one 16 year old girl is bound to be quite sensitive, so the poor darling snowflakes might actually be genuinely afraid as this is their ‘safe space’ which he is now disrupting.
@AirCon are you agreeing that I am slow on the uptake or that it doesn't explain the standards thingy ?
no lets not. its brexit that seems to have let the gennie out the bottle. kinda proves my point. 90-95. no devolution. no snp anywhere near power. lannark was a hot bed of brittish nationalisim and orange order heavy in the past. i cant say one way or another if "its still the same". i can only appologise on behalf of the vast majority of us that would deem anything other than, the bantz, to be totaly unacceptable. and the opposit of what of the Yes movement promotes. dunfirmiline has seen over the last 20 years, like many of these areas people moving north, 1 in 10 of us are english born many more, like me are from english descent. so, i do find it a lil hard to believe its as rife as your post might sugest.
Lol’ing at the ‘drama queen’ ratings from men who have spent the last couple of months losing their minds over a little Swedish girl saying nasty things about them (bottom lip stuck out emoji). Because there is nothing at all drama queeny about that behaviour
