That view is equally as naïve as the views you so patronisingly mock. Just for instance - what happens to the “vulnerable neighbour” if the kind hearted and protective neighbour moves away? What happens if the vulnerable neighbour falls down stairs and breaks his spine and requires major surgery and round the clock care for the rest of their days? What happens if one day the person or people running the voluntary food bank which feeds the homeless can no longer run it? I wonder whether those who advocate such a society would be so keen if they were being asked to choose a form of government for a newly founded society but they had to do so from behind a ”veil of ignorance”, meaning that they didn’t know what sort of position they would occupy in it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_position
I am not suggesting any particular course of action for non-Western societies, Harry. They can do what works for them.
Tribalism is human nature, not just Western society, leaving people to effectively fend for themselves in communes leads to.......
Fuck me, happy pills needed on isle 8 You can spot a extreme remainer a mile off, they tend to have a blade constantly hovering over their wrist
So ... examples of a Western society that has fallen to tribalism without first falling to socialism would include ...
In the extreme, fascism is organised tribalism - it seems to be what you are suggesting if I am not jumping to wrong conclusions?
Fascism is a top-down form of government, with no important differences from Communism. Jumping to the end - I would argue, same as you, that a form of government is essential in maintaining societal cohesion amongst disparate (but culturally-linked) communities. We only differ in the degree/scope of government that is necessary or healthy.
I don't think we disagree but we don't know what the ideal/correct extent of government is. I think it is somewhat fluid depending on a number of societal needs, that then gets corrupted by government (or wanker control freak politicians )
Corrupt government is not a freak event or an aberration. It is an inevitability. Serious question: Why do people object to the idea of billionaires running our lives but have no problem in principle to Government doing so? What does society need? Drill down deep now!
I don't disagree, government is generally made up of 'jumped-up' councillors who are self important people who couldn't get a proper job or corrupt self important people who have amassed loads of money - there is no real difference between them as in the end they are after lining their own pockets under teh disguise of doing the right thing for others. Best not bring up religion here
Eh? What does what I wrote have to do with Brexit????? I think you’re a little bit obsessed. Speaking of which, I thought you had me on ignore?
