All Labour constituencies. No wonder they want to keep the status quo, it's working very well for them.
There is nothing having vast amounts of capital sunk into the family homes that cannot be bettered by having capital invested in not-static securities, businesses, hell even public works if that's what floats your boat ... if the market were to be designed that way. Side effect - people can buy their own homes much more easily and still have cash to inject into the wider economy (instead of just the directors and shareholders of banks). Question: Where did most of the building societies go, and why?
Most of the building societies were purchased by banks. BTW I believe that public utilities and public transport should be in the hands of the state as they are crucial services affecting the nation. My only concern is that they are better run in private hands, but it is wrong that others profit from sectors that are essential to the population. so I’m not all hard right Thatcherism, must be my French side coming out.
I noticed that.... biggest jump as they were all shit holes until the conservatives (central government ) invested billions into them.
One of the worst things that can happen to a country is infrastructure falling into the hands of private industry. The only thing guaranteed to be worse than that is Government running those services.
And relatively speaking are not the best areas today, not wanting to offend anyone living there!! But other areas have improved no end over the same time span.
So should we always just be voting/wanting for the lesser of two evils, or should we not be pushing for other alternative too?
Liberals..........joking..... I think the only way for big change is to have proportional representation?? Let’s open a can of worms shall we.
you suggested here that there is a better solution and a lesser evil (political party to vote for ?) I asked what that might be. Weird.
I'm all for PR. Multiple parties, tied up in knots, unable to agree with each other on anything or "get anything done"? What's not to like?
