My 848 is now around eight months old and ever since I had it the front high beam side in certain types of weather gets condensation in it I did mention it at the first service and the service guy said they all do it which bring new bike is hardly acceptable, I went out on Friday and then speedo is starting to do the same which I'm not too happy about, is there any remedies for both or should I be asking for a new headlight and speedo under warranty? Richie :frown:
I've only seen a Multistrada with this condensation inside the speedo screen, thankfully on someone else's bike. My '06 999S is always clear. My bikes are always garaged over night but my cars outside seem to be covered in condensation/dew in the early morning so maybe this is a factor?
The screen on my Multi got steadily worse, ever increasing sections of the screen stopped working, until it packed in altogether. Out of warranty, so had to buy a new one. Expensive. I'd take it back under warranty, the sooner, the better.
From what i'm aware, a fogged up headlight is an MOT failure, so i'd park the bike in the dealers doorway and not move it until they agree to fix it under warranty. You could even take it to an MOT station and ask if it would pass, if not, then the bike's of unmerchantable quality as it's unfit for purpose. So you could demand a full refund or another bike. But i'd not wait because as soon as the warranty runs out it's all your money to fix any issues, at which time i'm sure the dealer would love to change things.
If it's any consolation (and it isn't ) my D16 does exactly the same. Asked about replacement dash, but was basically told "they all do that to some degree" think some people have drilled small vent holes, or put those small silica packets inside the dash
Near side headlight and dash both get the odd bit of misting on mine as well. It soon clears so I just don't worry about it.
Mine does it too, but it depends on the weather and ambient temperature. I wouldn't worry. It's because they're sealed to some degree so you'll always have some residual moisture from the air in there.
Bloody hell, this seems to be quite a big issue. I know it's not the end of the world, but what if new bikes were dropping valves or something serious and the only dealer response was, 'they all do that.' Ducatis have been the more expensive, more desirable of new bike for years. You'd expect the dealers to appreciate the decision you made and money you shelled out and do anything to make sure you want to buy another one.
