V4 Used Prices

  1. If it's a dealer, what they have the bike up for, they would have given matey prob at least 3k less for it. They then 'have 3k in it'

  2. So they're listing the standard used and registered gen1 v4 for £17k (15% off original list), want your bike plus the additional £11k correct? Thus giving you a px of £6k?

    Does make the gen1 on offer sound expensive when you consider that within 3 months the gen2 will be rolling out of dealerships and it's newer, fancier / better (according to ducati marketing)

    That said how much are 2nd hand 1098's selling for these days?

    Would you get £6k private easily?
     
  3. £17k for a standard V4 is silly money, should easily be able to pick up an S model for that.

  4. horses for coarses. look at the 899 prices and so on in the pani range , the whole pani range hold a fairly good used price. but if someone is desperado to sell then they will drop there used price a load but you have be lucky and find that poor seller. I reckon if you have a v4s for 5 years lets just say and put 10k mileage on it you may sell it privately for 10k ish depending as long as its looked after. I reckon that's not bad as I doubt it would drop under these prices really, But again someone will have to want it at the time you are selling.
     
  5. He means, if it's offered to you at 17k, they probably gave the previous owner 14k to take it in.... Thus making 3k on it... There are so many of these about you can take your time get a good deal I expect, especially seeing as it's just turned January.... As @bradders said 30% trade in, in year one is a pretty good guess ... You got to at least take the VAT and a bit more off to make it reasonable even with such low miles...

  6. Sorry for above.. Didn't see page 2 where it was already answered :D.... But I'm in agreement with the mob, 17k too much for a standard.
     
  7. There was a plush V4s for sale on here not long ago for below 18 I'm pretty sure and it still didn't sell. Private mind, wonder if it went?
     
  8. I'm aware dealers have overheads etc, and have to stand over a resale more than a private buyer. I'm just worried, not that I'm paying a thousand over a private sale, that's fair, but about three thousand.
    If I was desperate I'd buy it, I have the money, but I'm not at present. I only want it for pootling about in dry weather.
    I'm also slightly worried that it could drop another 3k or more within six months given the new models, and the prevailing opinion that a gen2 bike is usually much better as the flaws are ironed out.
     
  9. And there is the answer to your original question. The 600 miles I rode mine on public roads made it abundantly obvious the V4 is not a bike you “pootle” on. The responsiveness of the very free revving V4 is addictive and I found myself playing with the qs/blipper, looking for lines of vehicles to overtake and just being a hooligan. Never, never smiled so much and now mine is permanently in track trim, the track days can’t come round quickly enough. Andy

  10. I agree. A V4 is not for pootling about on. Buy a scooter or a scrambler for that.

  12. Honest opinion here, for 500 miles a year I'd stick with the 1098 ...... and spend c6k on a Hypermotard or Hyperstrada and change the type of riding / fun, probably find you ride more too as its less of an 'effort' ....

  14. If I ever went back to road it would either be SF or Hypermotard. What else would you want man, absolute hoonigan of a beast.

Many years ago I needed a commuter as thrashing the 996 from SE London to Slough on a daily basis was ridiculous, bought a Monster S2R, more or less from that day on I haven't ridden a sportsbike on the road, 996 carried on for a few years as my track bike before retiring it and my subsequent sports bikes have never seen the road, but have been through a Mk1 Multi, then a Hyperstrada and now my Multi 950 .... don't miss sportsbikes on the road one little bit and unless pulling up at your brew stop and being 'the man' is important, anything that isn't a V4R, Desmo, Superleggera or A N Other R is just a Ducati ....

  16. Think I lasted 3 months with my 899 on road before decided no more sports for the road. Especially where I live round Cornwall, only time it's nice to ride its full off people too stingey to get on an Easyjet flight andbp bugger off abroad.
