Spoiler!!! Austin MotoGP

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Imola, Apr 20, 2013.

  1. one thing you must take into consideration is the fact the track had such a long back straight and the honda all but the highest top speed. on your more regular bike circuit the win may not have come...so easily or at all.
its thought the yahahas are 20 to 30hp down on honda.
more of a honda victory that made it look like jorge was stuck in 4th gear
    marquez is good no doubt
. but the current over-electronicised nature of the bike is making raw skill secondary somewhat

  2. Even if all the riders were UK the sports pages would still be full of football and a tiny MotoGP section!

  3. As demonstrated by bbc3 non HD when they have at least 3 hd beeb channels!

  4. Top speed wasn't really the issue, it was that Honda had more grunt out of the slow corners - of which there are plenty at COTA. Jerez is a faster, more flowing circuit, so will favour the Yamahas.

  5. disagree in part - when you have a straight 3/4 to a mile long they can pull an extra 15k speed meaning an extra 30 to 40 yards a lap

  6. I'm only going on what the racers themselves said.

  7. you're right on the electronics but the way he lays the bike down is a new ballgame altogehter. and the way he just flipped DP on the inside speaks of great race craft...

  8. interesting point - it looks exciting but it is yet to be proven if its meaningful. there is only so much tyre after all.

  9. Jerez will be the marker for me, Qatar is a one off race track, COTA only a select few had track knowledge... Cal shone for me when you look at it, but Jerez they've all been there (MM on 125/Moto2 only) but they all have track knowledge... Dare I say it even Smith could fair well there.

    Jerez will be the marker.

  10. just wish stoner was still in the mix. I still think he spank them all even though I never really warmed to him..

  11. By the 6th race he'd be calling for MM to be banned for dangerous riding, because he wood be challenging and going for overtakes others arent. Stoner was great to watch on a bie and super fats, but can you remember really exciting races with him?! I cant unless you add Rossi to the mix...funny its the same with JL

  12. Put them all on a M3... :)

  13. come of it hahaha
can you be honest and tell me when we seen an exciting moto gp race full stop..
in my eyes it is going back to when gibernau and biaggi etc were there and there were less electronics...

you want exciting - watch WSB lol

  14. What a load of bollocks.

    Rossi/Moaner, USA 2008

    Rossi/Lorenzo, Catalunya 2009

    Rossi/Lorenzo, Motegi 2010 (can't find a vid for this)

That's just from memory, there are many more. And they all include Rossi because, quite frankly, he dominated the sport - without making it boring though. Go back to the 500gp era and all you see is Doohan circulating minutes ahead of anyone else.

    Want some more?
    How about Cal versus Dovi...

The people who say that 500s were better need to go back and watch whole races, cos among a few bright spots was a whole lot of dross.

  15. yep... when Schwantz was gone, all there was was to wait till Mick doohan ran away... with one finger up his nostrill... :)

  16. Lawson was boring as shit too.

  17. ducati = embarrassing

  18. yep and will be for a looooooong time...
the only fun we may look forward to is dovi beating VR in qualifying once in little while..

thank god for MM at the front.
would be a JL walkover otherwise..

every turn he takes looks like it s his last... :)

  19. just my opinion
    my apples are your oranges
you used to get massive darkies laid down. highsides and more drama.
the last 4 years have been like watching paint dry. very processional.
with the exception of a few battles between rossi and lorenzo its generally been shit in my opinion
wsb has been more fun though and better to watch
