So what have you done today..?

  1. Picked up my lads...well two of them - the other one's just passed his test and wanted to drive. The rest of us went to watch him get thrashed at rugby - he's 17 and has started playing for their seconds and thirds teams. Third son (4th kid) has football tomorrow so hopefully will restore some family honour.

  2. its not the winning that counts.. its the taking part... but perhaps just remind em, if they dont win, they will be taking part in a homeless shelter...

  3. Haha, if anyone ever says to you "it's not the winning, it's the taking part" ask them if they do the lottery.

  4. I've just seen a modern-day copy of a portrait of Lord Nelson - not a patch on the original.

  18. Just realised it would have been J. R. R. Tolkien's birthday today.

I thought he was great in the Yellow Pages adverts.

  19. My day started at 4am - eldest son, 21 and no.2 kid, was up with an upset stomach. He has severe autism, learning difficulties and is non verbal...it's hard when he's not well because he can't let us know what's wrong. He seems ok now and has just eaten some lunch.

Because of that, middle son drove youngest son to his football. They lost 4-1...so the family honour has been further disgraced following yesterday's rugby thrashing. Samurai swords will be issued - they know what they must do.

  20. Seppuku (ritual disembowelment) or the vulgar term Hara-kiri more commonly used by Westerners, was traditionally carried out using a tanto (knife) or the wakizashi (short sword). It was impractical to use one of the longer katana family of swords (commonly called a Samurai sword) which is between 60 and 80 centimetres long. :D Andy
